UP train jumps tracks in Kansas City, Kan.
KANSAS CITY, Kan. -- Railroad officials said seven cars of a Union Pacific (UP) train jumped the tracks Thursday (Oct. 21) in the southern part of the city, according to this Associated Press report.
The 84-car train, which was carrying vehicles, had just finished traveling from East St. Louis, Ill., when it derailed around 5:15 p.m. Six of the seven derailed cars toppled onto their sides, said Mark Davis, a Union Pacific spokesman.

No one was hurt, and damage to the tracks was minimal, Davis said.

He said the cause of the derailment was under investigation.
