VIA Rail Derailment in Burlington Ontario

VIA Rail has had a Derailment in Burlington Ontario. The Derailment happened just outside of Aldershot station, 5 Cars, and VIA 6444 leading. The Unit is on its side and as I am typing this message,emergency crews working on the Cab.

They have confirmed 3 Dead, with all 3 of them Engineers. VIA runs with 2 Engineers, but also an extra a Engineer Trainee. Also the lead truck was at least 500 feet away from the accident scene, behind an Ikea store.

So far the news reports lead me to believe it was exactly like the Thamesville Accident from 1999. Here is a link to the report from that derailment.

Maybe, but those were handthrow switchs, this was in CTC tetory, dispatcher controled switches.

this is true, but the people onboard said the same thing, and what happened.

VIA just finished a news conference, and they even referenced to the Thamesville accident in the part.

I swear all television reporters are complete morons. Just quoted on Channel 8 news in GR, "all six cars derailed and hit a small building." WTF?

Saw it this morning on WXYZ ABC 7 Detroit, it was a small news brief. I'm certain CBET CBC 9 Windsor probably will do a larger story on it.
