I thought this was in Hyndman? There was another Q train that had to tie down their train on Sandpatch and drag a Q352? back up the mountain as a result of Q388's mess. If Sandpatch is what they call the entire area, where would the tied down train (and the train that had to be pulled up the mountain) be in relation to the derailment?

Sorry, I'm not at all familiar with the area in question.

The people in those nearby homes are extremely lucky. Those homes are really close to the tracks.

Hyndman is the east end of Sandpatch grade. That Q352 probably tied down somewhere west of there. Could have been as far west as Connelksville PA which is the far west end of the grade. There are 3 passing sidings on the grade but with it being double tracked they could have left their train just about anywhere west of a crossover.

The STB released a preliminary report today on the cause of the derailment.

How long you want to wager till a certain CSX executive announces that the crew left the hand brakes on, on purpose to derail the train because they were disgruntled over budget cuts and layoffs?
