V700 for scanning negatives

After using a darkroom for 20 years I would like to know if anyone prints negatives 6x7 or 6x9 using a scanner and computer. Thanks for any info. you have.

A V700 should be sufficient for your needs, perhaps not optimal, a 6x7 @ 1200ppi ( which is way below what your scanner can do, will give you a file size of about 60 mb, scanning at 2400ppi gives 120mb, scanning at 4800 ppi equals 240 mb (hope you have a lot of RAM) and Hard Drive space. I scan my 6x6 at 2400ppi and wish I could do more. (epson perfection 4990 scanner, the one before yours). You will need a lot of RAM and HD space to do the image justice. There is tons of detail in a 6x6, 6x7, 6x9 image. Yes, your scanner does scan at 4800ppi and yes there is that much detail in the image.
I use Silverfast Lite for scanning and use Adobe for after scan adjustments. Also it is a well known fact that Epsons don't have the best focus system, so sharpening (or UNsharp) will always be required prior to printing, that's just the way it is until to you get into the $10,000+ wet mount systems. Hope the info helps a bit. PS there are some aftermarket negative holders that improve the focus a bit. Brand name escapes me at the moment.
