Photoshop CS Resize Question

Unread post by Crow T Robot »

When you resize in photoshop is there any way to stop it from making the image into a thumbnail? For Example I load a 6024 x 4024 image into the editor. Edit image then resize to say 1200 x 800 which photoshop displays as a thumbnail which in turn you need to use the magnifer to bring back to full size. Paintshop use to leave the size alone but now also readjusts to thumbnail size. Is there away to resize but leave the image in a larger version?

I use CS5 and after reducing an image's size to say, 1200x800, I click on the large triangle (right side) of the navigator box to bring it back up to 100% and then begin my editing. Or, I might use command-+ to bring it back up to 100%.

I'm not really sure I understand what your issue is.

Try for a better explanation open the image 6000 x 2000 for example image fill the edit area so you can see the whole image. You finish editing image so you resize to 1200 x 800 image now gets shrunk to thumbnail size so in order to see the image fully again you need to hit the magnifier a few times. My question is there any setting in CS that would allow the image to fit the window. The image doesn't shrink when resized. Found the setting in Paintshop it has a setting
- Fit window to image(window will resize to fit image)

After i edit then resize the photo, I just hit "Ctrl + alt + 0" and that brings magnification back to 100%. Seemed easy enough for me so I didn't bother looking for some auto fit photo to window. I like zooming in on the shot anyway to edit pieces.

ummm.... don't you mean you edit THEN resize to 1200x800, maybe one last round of sharpening, then save? I really hope you don't mean you are editing a lot of the shot when it's only at 1200x800....

No, I resize first and then edit the smaller version. It slows the computer down too much if I edit while at full size. Unless I'm going to make a print, I always resize first.

It seems to have worked fine for me with the thousands of shots I've edited. :D
