Unread post by Scooterb »

Thanks for the comments on the first series next up pics from Butler Indiana.

I will post a selection of my pics I think should be submitted to the site railroad pics net. because they only allow 10 to be submitted everyday now. I would like you to give your honest opinion on these pics what is wrong with them.
1. bad crop
2.high sun
3. bad angel
4. backlit
5. shadows
6. soft
7. oversharp
8. overexposed
9. unlevel
10. not a chance
11.no problem, send it in.

Maybe suggestions on what needs to be corrected.

please refer to numbers by the pics for your comments.

I will post result on the submittels when I get them back from railroad pics net

To quote the docktor: " Reson 79 why I'm not on the road...." That photo of D709 you sent in was great, but didn't make the cut, reason number numero uno as to why I don't submit there.

It did make it in, but I had to make a fuss to Mr. Starnes before it did.

I like 'em all, but I think #3 is the one they'll take, but you never know! They could reject that one and take the other 3. :?

I say send 'em all in and see what happens, though if any get rejected, take the reasons they give with a grain of salt. Just because they feel something is a bad angle, doesn't mean the rest of the railroad fan population feels the same way.

Most of the ones I post will be sent in. I appreciate the comments.
I am hoping by doing these people will/can get an idea of what will or will not be accepted to the site and what the screeners may be looking for. I think it will make us all better photographers.
This is just part of the hobby I enjoy, and to get the exposer that the Big site offers. If they accept pictures great if not thats ok, sometimes I have to laugh for the resones they give, but winter is coming and I can do some editing on some of those pics and maybe resubmit.

Crash and burn on this series.
I thought it would be an outside chance for any of these to make it, But you gotta try.

1.Poor Lighting (High Sun): The angle of the sunlight is too high, a common problem in the summer months of year on mid-day shots

2. Horizon Unlevel: Try levelling the image in your photo editing software.
