I also enjoy seeing how movements (be them political or other) use camera angles, pay people to join the crowd (like the occupiers did), etc. to make it look like they have more support than they really do.

I also see how newsmedia tries to do the same to make peaceful meetings look sinister and dangerous. People will be demonstrating peacefully and within the law and the reporters will tell us to look angry/serious and thrust our signs in the air and yell at the passerbyers. They say it makes for a better story. Honest to goodness I have been involved in pro-life education for many years and we have never ever done anything in anger or contempt for other people.

If anyone is interested in getting the "behind the scenes" stuff that government uses to manipulate us read George Orwell's Animal Farm. Its an easy read and easy to understand and goes fast. Whatever your belief or philosophical postion is I think the book is insightful.

Hind sight being 20/20 we can look back and see some over the top examples like Hitler's Nazi Party, Stalin's Communist Party, and many more examples where government brain-washed and manipulated people into a course of action that was not for their good (but certainly good for the rulers in charge). But it happens every day even in our country as our politicans use strategies to try and get us to do what they believe is in the best interest of the country (although more often than not its whats in the best interest of their pocket books  .
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

Well said AARR. I am not sure there is anyone who believes that there is a "news" agency out there that isn't pushing some agenda which is why people have a favorite news sources. Even if an article, or TV piece is straight news, just choosing what to cover and not cover shows a bias or agenda.
Every year a half million or more people gather in Washington DC in the coldest month of the year to peacefully protest one of the worst Supreme Court decisions ever and to show their support for life in all stages, but you would never know it if you watched the the so called mainstream media.
Or just compare the Tea-Party numbers and coverage to the Occupy Wall Street coverage and numbers.

All that said, some of the comments people made in that referenced article were funny! "I'll assume North Korea used a bootleg copy of Photoshop"

This is one of the biggest reasons I like living in the US: Freedom of the Press. The only N. Korean news agency is Govt owned. Most people in the US choose their news source based on what they believe. And the truth is: MANY AGENCIES ARE CLOSER TO THE CENTER AND TRUTH THAN EVER BEFORE. in early america, newspapers were VERY one-sided. During the revolution, many papers clearly supported the rebels, while many supported the british.

That's making a comeback with places like Fox and MSNBC and all those blogs and things. As someone once said though: "Truth is Grey".
