Any Suggestions Cropping Issues?

Unread post by Crow T Robot »

Just asking any hope on these or is the lighting going to be the next issue? I think there is some tilt so that will be addressed. I was hoping for the second one not really sure what to cutoff? I like the tracks to the right... First one I'm guessing the trees to the right are the issue just not sure how to eliminate them without losing the hotel/inn... Or do I need the inn hmm.

No idea, I like the cropping with both.

I think maybe the unlisted open nose door rejection is striking it's ugly head again.

Yes. You got cloud-f'd and there's no way around that. Plus with the open nose door that's a "double whammy" so no matter how well you get the exposure, cropping, level, etc. they likely won't make it.

I think the first one is more a composition problem rather than cropping. I'd like to see it with the engines a little further away so the camera could be tilted up to get rid of some of the foreground and add more of the mountain top on the right. Maybe then chop a little off the left. I agree that the inn needs to stay in. That's part of what makes this an interesting photo location.
The second one might look better as a vertical composition showing the locos and getting rid of the buildings.
The open nose door doesn't help either one. I think we've all been skunked by open nose or hood doors more often than we'd like.
My 2 cents.
