Sensor Cleaning

Unread post by GTW6401 »

Ive started to get a couple dust spots on my camera sensor, and was looking to take it in for cleaning. First place I went to wants 75 bucks, which is more than I want to spend for a problem that is likely to come back again. Is there anywhere in the Detroit area that might be less.

Learn how to do it yourself, much cheaper and it's not that hard.

There is a place in wyandotte I'll see if I can find the address bingo http://www.midwestcamera.com/ or you could do it yourself just takes a steady had a puffer. See what your instructions say my Minolta was pretty easy to do but I will say there was some crud on it that I could not get off so I got it cleaned.

Take a little blow-brush thing (I have no idea what they're really called) and blow it once or twice. Works every time for me.

Wyandotte is 30 miles away from me, so thats really not a good option. Right now ive been able to work around the problem by cloning out the spots. I'll likely go online and figure out how to do it myself.

Amazingly in 5 years with my Olympus E-500 I have never had this issue. I swear by their dust reduction system.

Agreed. Watch an instructional video on youtube and then order a cleaning kit online. It'll save you tons of money from what a local camera store will charge. And if you learn to do it yourself, you can do it any time it's needed without the hassle of going to a camera shop.

Got a link to a good one? There used to be a camera store in Toledo that'd do it for $15 and I'd gone there a time or two but they closed. I bought a kit but it hasn't come up where I've needed to yet although I'm sure it will one day...

Thanks,
Michael
