Normally I don't whine about RP.net, but this is pretty ridiculous.

So you guys think every railroad shot should have an engine pulling a train, huh? I guess your definition of railroading is much narrower than mine.

sorry guys but i'm going to have to defend the photographer on this one. that is one of the coolest billboards i've seen and done rightfully so with a well composed shot at night....what's not to like? and besides it's railroad related. 8)

I'm not dissing the billboard, it's for sure one of the coolest billboards I've ever seen, driven by it many times. I guess by definition it's a railroad photo, but, I don't know, I just don't agree that it should be on RP.

Don't forget it's called Railpictures.net, haha.

I'm glad to see a night picture of that billboard too.

Actually that above photo of rail is really well composed and interesting, it would go over well with non railfans which to me is the definition of a great railroad photograph.

I think some people need to do a little research on men like David Plowden, Jim Shaughnessy, and Dick Steinheimer of course I think railpics does too.

Actually I liked the billboard shot. That Kevin the Krazy one dude has some nice stuff. As for the Rail shots, ..................Um ............Yeah............Some of those get kind of weak.

Just reminded me of what I thought to be the WORST shot on RP.

It was some Traction Sand laying in the snow. :!: :?: Really :?:

I like both photo's. I don't know whether they belong on Railpictures.net or not. IMO the picture forum at RRFan.com is every bit as good as RP. Some of you are impressively good photographers.
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

I like it. If you're a member I'd give it a shot. It's unique, and a hard to replicate shot. It certainly beats the endless parade of 3/4 wedgies that are accepted everyday.

I'll second that! That's an awesome "you don't see that every day" kind of shot and I bet they'd take it...

Seriously? A pile of sand next to a wheel on an engine? Yeah, it's unique, but boring. Not like my opinion matters, but I'd rather see a well-lit, properly composed 3/4 wedge of an NS Dash-9 than see that pile of sand on RP.

I have seen a few of those on my last trip to Chicago. But no, not RP material. Now, if the train was going by the billboard, I would say ok.

In a place where it would stand a chance of being photographed, and then shared? I still call it a rare shot.
