I'll agree with Y@, I'd much rather see a good wedgie. I think that stems from the fact that I'm more into trains (specifically locomotives) than photography. I like to try and compose nice shots, but as long as I get a decent shot of the train and power itself, I'm perfectly happy.

You should have HOTLINKED the WOOD. Your helping a shot like that to get views that they dont deserve.

But don't worry, Im sure it will get Photo of the day or something because people will see a pile of wood, not know why its on RP and just have to click and look for them selves.

Oh yeah, 20 views from here will change the photographic world for that shot... ;) (There's currently nine views coming from here)

And today features spikes!

http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=350247

Lets see, rail, ties, spikes - perhaps tomorrow will be tie plates or clips for "trackstructurepictures.net"

But hey - if you want a basic wedgie for relief I'll provide that! Here's a Q123 at New London, OH:

A buddy of mine is an avid photographer with little to no interest in trains.

A few years back he wanted to go to Durand with me. We get there on a cold November day and I start looking for trains. He starts taking pictures of everything BUT trains. Rails, spikes, buildings, building parts, ballast, grass, ties, on and on, but never a train. He contorts himself into strange positions to get the right "artsy" position.

Oh, he did take a picture of a train...wheels...wheels bouncing off the crossing...wheels on the rails, etc. Oh yea, he took a picture of couplers of a passing train.

I don't know if Railpics is an exclusive club but I know if my bud was on the panel as long is it was acceptable quality and railroad related he'd probably vote it in.

All I have to say is if you don't like it, don't click on it. No sense b****ing about something like this. It's not your site, and you're not going to change the types of photos that they let on, so there's really no point getting all worked up about this. Just skip 'em over and be done with it.

Personally, I think it's refreshing to get photos that aren't of trains, especially if they're well done,

Ah the beauty of photography.. You'll never have a photo that everyone likes. Even Ansel Adams had people who thought his work sucked..

I've been thinking about my position on this subject and have Kind of Re-evaluated.

Some of the shots are very creative and I do like them. Not all Rail Road photo's need a train.
