Two logos on DTI X402

Unread post by Atkinson_Railroad »

Refurbishing and making some changes to the wrecking crane I built in the late ‘80s, and
have found a photo of DT&I X402 with both the old raised herald, and the compass logo
on the side of the crane.

https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=ht ... mrc&uact=8

It’s a long shot, “but”… anyone aware of any other photos of the crane when it had both logos on it?

I've posted the same inquiry on the DT&I Yahoo group.

Can't help with the logo. But Linda had spun a few tails about you guys and the early years. It was great to hear a little back story. Love the crane and hope you get things up and running some time.

Referring to "Linda" from the Jones family? That would certainly tie in with Downriver.
I'm wondering if I'm chatting here with someone who knows one of my "shirt-tail" relatives.

Thanks for your reply M. D. Since posting the question here, I did discover quite a few various O and HO models of the crane with 2 logos.

Someone over on the Yahoo group has supplied a good lead to follow-up on. "But"! If anyone else out here stumbles upon a good depiction
of the crane in any disposition, keep me in mind.

Good luck with the leads and keep us posted on your progress. And 2nd cousin Linda said to tell you "Hey".

Hey John. don't know if you have access to the D&TSL book or not but there are 2 photos of the DT&I crane on pages 99 & 100. If not I can scan and sent it to ya.

M.D. I would greatly appreciate those scans. I’ll send you a PM.

The only book I have is Scott D. Trostel’s 1988 publication purchased in '91.

The recent (temporary) warm spell has allowed me to dig the crane out of storage
for some well needed attention. After 30 years, the Big Hook needs a new paint job.
If I decide to put two logos on the housing, I’ll have to finesse where the compass herald
will best fit. DT&I X402 had fewer door and window openings on its housing providing
more surface area on the crane for logo placement. My “X402” shroud has a different door
and window arrangement which may not allow for a decent looking second logo with slogan.

We shall see when the reconditioning project gets to that point.
Attached photo for reference.

Thank you M. D.
