Custom Decals

Unread post by MQT1223 »

Anyone know anybody or anywhere I could get custom decals made if I wanted to? I think "Buck Creek" in a Virginian-Style billboard font would look sweet on some 40's-60's rolling stock or locomotives and it would be neat if its possible to make them.

I've always used RailGraphics http://www.railgraphicsdecals.com/ with very good results.
His data sets are also very handy.
I haven't lost my mind, it's on tape backup here somewhere...

Testors has printable decal paper. http://shop.hobbylobby.com/products/cle ... er-995571/ The paper works by being printed, but it does need a clear coat over top.
Anything can be fixed with WD40 and ductape......... Right?

I use Stan Cedarleaf for my decals. Good work, decent price and very fast turnaround.

I prefer Shawmut Car Shops, Jeff is VERY helpful (especially with figuring out technology issues) and, though he primarily prints in G scale, he did an HO set for me and has done HO and N for others. Decals are easy to work with, and are priced very well

And invest in a font or two. I use "Marquette Extended Centered" for just about everything except my taxes.

I'm thinking of using a PRR style logo and lettering. A keystone themed logo with BCC instead of PRR is in the works.

If cedarleaf is who did some of mine, he does good work. Just make sure you spell out the scale. I wanted him to make some G scale decals of a HO Pere Marquette set. It specified in the subject line I wanted G scale. He sent HO scale copies, and said I didn't specify scale. I asked why I'd need him to do HO Scale copies of a commercial set that I had sent him in the first place. After some back and forth he made the correction, but originally wanted to charge me again for the work.
