Lionel Hall of Fame

Unread post by Bluewaterfan »

In the radio station where I work, I just got this off the Associated Press Network

National Toy Hall of Fame honors Lionel trains

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - The National Toy Hall of Fame in New York
is honoring the Lionel model trains.

Lionel trains and the Easy-Bake Oven are the first
electricity-powered toys to be enshrined in the Toy Hall of Fame.
The classic toys were inducted yesterday in Rochester.

Longevity is a key criterion for getting into the all-star
lineup. Each toy must not only be widely recognized, but endure in
popularity over multiple generations.
Lionel trains have been chugging along for more than a century.
They were made in Michigan for years, and Lionel still is based in
Macomb County's Chesterfield Township.
So far, 36 classic toys have been enshrined.
One can make a mistake and own up to it, but still feel guilty.
