Here is the new CN auction list.

Several more IC SD40-2Rs, a repainted GTW SD40-2 and the three EJ&E SW1001s are the most notable on the new list, the majority of what is left are repeats from the last auction, including EJ&E 650 and all the DM&IRs but 214 (scrapped) and 200 (sold to Wisconsin Great Northern).
Note that in this auction CN lists more details about each engine than they have in the past, maybe trying to attract more sellers. The highlighted in yellow must not mean preservation because four NBEC MLWs, two CN SD40-2s and two BC Rail SD40-2s are highlighted this tine, but IC 6071 which is listed for sale again is not highlighted again.

"In September, IC SD40X 6071 was donated by Canadian National to
Monticello Railway Museum (Monticello, Illinois).
IC SD40X 6071 was built in 1964 as EMD 434 (29025, 5662-1). EMD 434 was
the first locomotive to be powered by the EMD 645-series diesel engine.
EMD 434 was painted in EMD's orange and white demonstrator paint scheme,
but was quickly repainted into AT&SF's blue and yellow paint scheme,
sans lettering, for evaluation and testing by the AT&SF.
EMD 434 was sold to Gulf, Mobile & Ohio and numbered GM&O 950. Sometime
after the 1972 GM&O/IC merger, GM&O 950 was repainted into ICG's orange
and white paint scheme and renumbered ICG 6071. ICG 6071 was rewired at
VMV (Paducah) in 1995. After "Gulf" was dropped from the Illinois
Central corporate name, ICG 6071 was repainted into IC's black and white
paint scheme and renumbered IC 6071."

6071 should still be operatable too, it never went up to Woodcrest. It sat in Memphis in the deadline there.

Just a quick update... all the 2400 series Cowl dash 8's are back in service, CN is bringing SD40's out of service mainly the IC 6100's, all the SD50F's are now of property and all the Alcos have been sold just waiting to be shipped.

I like the dark gray, and the orange stripe is ok...but the oragne cab and nose could use some work

EJ&E 650 has been sold to S&S Shortline & Leasing, whatever their reporting marks are. At least someone saved it. I think the 650 is pretty much intact too.

They have former Detroit Edison U30C # DE11 which has had the DE spraypainted over with a "9" making it 9011.... I didn't know any of those unit existed anymore....

DM&IR 211's main generator quit. As a result, 211 is now retired, leaving DM&IR 205 and DM&IR 403 as the last Missabe painted units on the CN. 211 was stripped of major components before leaving Proctor, so it's future dosn't look bright and it appears that scrapping will be likely.

Sounds like the last DM&IR painted SD38-2 is now done # 215, for what im hearing gave a big gowl and started shooting flames out the stacks.

Unfortunatly, that news is true, 215 apparently made a loud banging noise then started shooting flames out of its exhaust stacks.
CN must not have been maintaining the DM&IR SD38-2s, as of the 4 that were left at the beginning of 2009, 3 of them were retired due to major mechanical failures. 211 failed just a couple weeks ago. 210 also went down earlier this year as well. 213 was also retired, but the reason is unknown. I wouldn't doubt that it failed too.
DM&IR 403 is now the last maroon DM&IR left on the CN, and it is currently covered in so much soot and oil that you wouldn't ever know it's a DM&IR. Also, it appears most of the stuff in the deadlines at Homewood is going to end up going for scrap, as ASDX has bought a whole bunch of stuff, including DM&IR 308 and several of the MLW/Alco units.

Thank goodness i spent some time up at Procter Minn, Back in the summer of 1998, I bet if i go back up there today things would be alot different. Thats bad news about those engines. I hope the same fate does not await the EJ&E SD38-2's.

215 is still working, the shop crews in Proctor were able to get it fixed up and back out on the road.

I saw what was the IC 6009 along the CSX near Pine Junction in Gary today sitting with a cut of cars. Reporting marks were IBCX.

EJ&E 654 has been sold to FTRX, whoever that is.
EJ&E 446 has been removed from the auction list and remains in service.
Most of the remaining IC SD40-2Rs that were stored look to be going for scrap as they were lettered ASDX.

where has the 6754 been? i was at homewood yesterday and saw some IC SD40's but didnt get any pictures of them... ug, DM&IR 211 is also in the shops getting work done and suppose to be sent back to the iron range after sitting i nthe deadline for a few months.
