Will be interesting to see how much GTW and DWP blue any of those units keep under new ownership.

A third SD40-2Q (or SD40u, as most know them) has now been retired: 6026.
This unit was involved in a collision at Momence, Illinois back in late 2005, and has been sitting in the same spot, in it's smashed up state, since that time.
The previous two SD40-2Qs, mentioned above (6002 & 6004) were also retired due to wreck damage.

from a post on CNLines

These units came off the track on the brazzeau sub south of Edmonton on April 23, 07. They were being lead by SD40-2 5307 which was wrecked as well, and trailed by a 4800 series (GP38-2W) which stayed upright. My dad was the engineer on this train and was injured in the 5307. They were proceeding with train 444 southbound at 25 miles per hour when they hit a broken rail and came off the track into the ditch. This occured right after the strike and still had the track supervisor running trains instead of inspecting track.

In addition, WC 6002 and 6003 have been retired, along with 3 of the gray ex-GCFX engines. Also DM&IR SD38-2s 203, 206, and 209, DM&IR SDM 301, and DM&IR SD40-3s 415, 416, 417, and 418 have also been retired. CN is really starting the dump the DM&IR engines, which is strange becuase they haven't put the special braking system needed to run on the DM&IR ore trains on any other engines, and CN is really in the hole power wise on the DM&IR due to this. Seems like a waste of engines to me. CN 4000 is in the deadline at Homewood, along with WC 7504, 7637, and DM&IR engines 209 and 418. Also, several GTW GP9Rs, IC SW14s, and even a BC Rail RS18 are in various deadlines.

From what I heard, 10 of the former GCFX grey engines like the ones assigned to GTW and WC, are being converted to operate with ore trains on the DMIR. They will carry DMIR reporting marks just like the WC and GTW units.

I'm thinking that maybe the fake GTs will probably be the ones that head up to the DM&IR. Sounds like CN is going to let the leases on the ex-GCFXs assigned to the WC expire, along with the remaining WC SD40-2s (6004-6006). 6002 and 6003 are already retired. Get you photos of the maroon WC SD40-2s while you can.

Sounds like you can add DM&IR SDM 317 to the retired list. It was listed in the auction list.
