If anybody's in Colorado soon, this might be worth a flick

I like the scheme on their SD40s better but this will do nicely. Looks like they'll have a total of ten MACs running on the former San Luis & Rio Grande.

Re: Colorado Pacific
I looked at their line from Towner to Boone and didn't see a single revenue car, just some storage cars in Towner. There are multiple grain elevators on the line, though. The track looks marginal. It doesn't look like they would need SD70MAC's. Am I looking at the correct Colorado Pacific line?

Re: Colorado Pacific
there's the colorado pacific line aka towner line.
there's the colorado pacific rio grande lines, ex-san luis and rio grande.
the latter gets that big power.

Re: Colorado Pacific
I wasn't happy with my answer
cxr is the reporting mark for the towner line so that unit should be for the towner line.
cxrg is for the alamosa lines.
the alamosa lines don't need 10 engines.
the slrg would bring the train west over la veta one day.
the next would see the power make turns to antonito and monte vista.
then back east to walsenberg the next day.
less than daily service and little chance of getting more carloads.
but time will tell how the power is actually used.
Re: Colorado Pacific
But it was good enough for me to find the line and have some thought as you as 10 70MAC's seems more than what they would need. Maybe if they can get the lumber mill to the east of Waldenburg shipping by rail again that would justify more power. It already has its own three or four track yard.

Re: Colorado Pacific
A few will go to the Towner Line while the rest remain on the old San Luis. Yes ten seems a bit excessive but I know they've been selling for cheap and the guy behind this operation, Stefan Soloviev, who's name is on the rear of the unit, makes big money outside of railroading. He's an interesting guy and even has his own wiki https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stefan_Soloviev
