Tracking preserved Amtrak F40’s

Unread post by David Collins »

With a restoration to operation for Amtrak F40PHR #307 at the North Carolina Transportation Museum about to be announced, does anyone know of any other F40’s other than unit #281 at the Museum in Northern California that are preserved? Also if anyone wants list any other F40’s in second hand service (like with LTEX/Metra), go ahead and put that in too.

Just wondering, why are they shipping prime movers from the F40’s over to Poland?

"Rail Polska have introduced even more comprehensive modernization project. In 2006, three M62s (M62-1117, M62-1121 and M62-1108) from Estonian EVR railways were fitted with GM 645E3B 16-cylinder two-stroke diesel engines, rated at 3000 hp. These diesels were taken from withdrawn class F40PH locomotives (Montreal, Maine & Atlantic RR)."
