I just watched a video of the 767/ 765 working the steam in the valley trains and noticed that the tender extension had been removed (most likely to the delight of railfans.. I remember people hated that). Does anyone know if there was a reason for this, or simply the extra capacity was not required.
Also while I'm at it is the Mars light a permanent addition to the 765 or just part of it being done up as the 767?

Extra capacity was not required. She just wore that for her trip out East last year.
