Up in Alpena does the southbound train still depart around 5-6pm and arrive back around 6am ? What are the Bay City/Pinconning times?

Yup, that's still the schedule.Fred wrote:Up in Alpena does the southbound train still depart around 5-6pm and arrive back around 6am ? What are the Bay City/Pinconning times?

One note, however. In high fire danger, they'll depart Alpena around 8p and have a hi rail follow the train.

Southbound into Bay City usually in the morning, then the northbound departs after Z126 brings up cars from Saginaw.Fred wrote:Thanks for confirming that info, any idea on times at Bay City/Pinconning?

The Z126 is the Saginaw to Bay City job on the former CSX trackage.

Re: LSRC Schedule on former D&M Alpena Line
I am going up north to Greenbush Mi on Friday August 5th. Which I could easily walk to the Kings corner road Crossing to catch LSRC 326.
When is the train going to reach Greenbush on Friday August 5th?
Will I have a better chance going up to the Harrisville depot? Or will I have a greater chance of going to the Alcona road Crossing just north of Harrisville?
I dont want to catch it in the dark Because it will make a bad video.

I was in Tawas over the 4th of July weekend. The rails didn't look too shiney. How many trains a week go through there?

Look for the Lake State to depart Alpena around 1800. They go 10 mph, so do the math.
There is a chance that they'd leave later, around 8, due to fire danger. There is no way to know for sure.
Private Message me the day you're going to be out and I can try to get you a departure time.

Maybe he doesn't know the distance.
If someone doesn't answer first I'll post the distance later when I have access to my notes.

Fairly easy to find out using Google Maps, but since I've already been accused of providing not enough info today...its 30 miles.AARR wrote:Maybe he doesn't know the distance.

Trains get to Ossineke one hour after departing Alpena, and get to Black River one hour after than. Another hour to Harrisville, and so on.
Re: LSRC Schedule on former D&M Alpena Line
I once saw the LSRC "highballing" through Roscommon at a blistering 10 mph. What a thrill.

Re: LSRC Schedule on former D&M Alpena Line
This is what I show as the distances:
86.4 Greenbush
90.3 Harrisville
97.3 Alcona
101.7 Black River
111.1 Ossineke
123.0 Alpena
123.6 Roundhouse Jct. (starting point)
As Saturn said, figure 10mph the entire trip.
