Different take on Streaming scanner

Want to support my scanning efforts? Tower rent isn't cheap and neither are new radios! https://www.patreon.com/amtrak1007

I've been working on a new project of sorts the past few months. I wanted to change how online scanners functioned, instead of listening to a rotating channel list, i'm working on making multiple streams each dedicated to its own channel. Here is what I have online currently.

CSX 0808 (Road) - http://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/22783
CSX 3535 (GR Sub Dispatch) - http://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/23220
Grand Rapids Area Shortlines - http://www.broadcastify.com/listen/feed/24338

as financing allows I hope to add some of the following
Amtrak Michigan line - 9393
CSX 1414 (Dispatcher GR - Lansing)
CN 28, 32, 74 (depending on what range we can get)

Last night we had some awesome skip on the CSX 0808 stream. I heard a defect detector in Cromwell IN. 92ish miles away from the receiver site.

List of known good received stations
-Plymouth Sub
Plaster Creek to Grand Ledge
-Grand Rapids Sub
Lamar - St. Joe Bridge (further west on a good day)

FYI the 3535 GR sub dispatch is being worked on. We got the ground hum taken care of on that line, and amtrak1007 needs to work on the cable connecting the radio to the iMic.

Just heard a westbound CSX at Wellsboro and a defect detector go off on that line as well a few mins ago on the Channel 8 feed.. great reception all around.

ATCS Yahoo group is now located here: https://groups.io/g/ATCSMonitor

Going to make a good ol' college try tonight at fixing the 3535 feed. Will update with progress.

Changed out audio harness last night on the 3535 feed. Also re programmed the radio to proper frequency.

Per amtrak1007, antenna is now 490' in the air. Listening to the feed this morning, heard Amtrak P37102 clearly from leaving Grand Rapids all the way to MP 122 west of New Buffalo. Didn't get to keep listening past that point but likely able to hear further.
Picking up conversations in Gary, Wellsboro, and out near Kimmell IN.

Heard them all the way to cg 133 and the hand off to ns. Not sure how the eb coverage is, haven't listened to the archives yet.

At 490' off the ground, this tower is now at 1440' above sea level. Probably the highest rail fanning scanner in the world, in terms of hi eight above topography.

Also, can we get this thread pinned so it stays within easy reach?

looking to see what folks wanna see with new streaming services. Working on getting the blessing to add my own cabinet at the tower site. Personally I'd like to see another radio show up so we can pair the 1414 dispatch feed with the 3535 feed and add listening to the RN east of GR. Hope to also add a short line feed (GRE, MS, MQT, GDLK) soon as well.

Worked out Mnemonics issues with the ATCS installation for Seymour to Lake Odessa tonight. Should have a monitoring kit updated soon. Seymour changed addresses, and a few bits since the first canvass of the area was done back in 2010. New Layout file will include some "dead" tracks (non-ATCS control points) to give users frame of reference. Hope to get ATCS server up and online sometime in early September.

Seymour must have changed bits when they installed the new signals at Madison and Pleasant Street. The conversion from 251 to 261 rules probably required some new coding, despite no changes to the signals (which I'm sure they had planned for when they installed originally).

The approach blocks west of the signals on mt1 and mt2 are gone from that control point. Figure this happened when they went bi-directional between Seymour and pleasant St.

for something different, I changed the radio on the "Lake shore Dispatch" feed to 4646 seeing what on the michigan line we can hear... Tomorrow I'm prolly going to reprogram it to 2828 and see what we can hear on the GTW sub.

got the new sever staged (compliments of trnwatcher). Hope to get it deployed and online by monday. Will update everyone when the ATCS monitoring kit is available in the yahoo group.

(old kit resides here) https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/ATC ... West%20MI/

Also note the radio streams may be offline for bits and spurts this weekend as they get moved to their new permanent home.

Maintainer was working on the Plymouth Sub this morning. Ended up seeing some different bits on ATCS... Hope to decode that soon.

migrated the feed pi's and the atcs server to a new network location (on the back end, links in the OP are still legit). note to anyone who is using the atcs, download a new zip file for the updated server address and updated block mnemonics. The shortline scanner should be back online soon as well to after having to take it off site for some config work.

What config work was done on the shortline feed?
