LTV Mining Railroad
What happened to this railroad?

The mine shut down, the railroad was mothballed and the equipment sold off.

Funny you bring this up, the last F9's from this operation were just moved out of Hoyt Lakes either today or yesterday. Not a piece of the Erie Mining Company left in their home territory.

Your are incorrect! There are still scrap components of the F9Bs left!MQT1223 wrote:Funny you bring this up, the last F9's from this operation were just moved out of Hoyt Lakes either today or yesterday. Not a piece of the Erie Mining Company left in their home territory.

Someone mentioned (in the North & Central Indiana Railroads group) on Facebook that some of the Erie Mining F's might be headed to the Vermillion Valley Railroad. Is there any substance to the rumor, and if so, is there a source with any more information available?

Re: LTV Mining Railroad
TRAINS magazine reported that they got moved out a few days ago, but to where I am not sure since I cannot read the full article. Great to see these F units making a resurgence on the short haul railroads!GreatLakesRailfan wrote:Someone mentioned (in the North & Central Indiana Railroads group) on Facebook that some of the Erie Mining F's might be headed to the Vermillion Valley Railroad.
