So DMIR, BLE, and CV are under IC?SD80MAC wrote:To further complicate things, all of CN's US operations are technically the "Illinois Central". GTW is now just a holding company, and I'm not sure about EJE and WC. But as far as the blue C40-8W's go, they are technically IC units.

I believe so, yes. Tranportation and some other employees of those respective lines are still technically employed by the holding companies (GTW conductors/engineers are technically "GTW" employees), though IIRC all management (IE trainmasters) are employed by the IC.DT&I wrote:So DMIR, BLE, and CV are under IC?SD80MAC wrote:To further complicate things, all of CN's US operations are technically the "Illinois Central". They have been changed to IC, what about the equipment? Is BLE, DMIR, and CV under GTW then?

Re: Conrail Paint List
No, all of the BCOL, BLE, EJE, WC, DMIR, and GTW engines left on CN still have their respective former reporting marks, even once they're repainted into CN colors (CN painted ex GTW GP38-2s with GTW sublettering, for example). There are also groups of engines given old reporting marks that the respective railroad never owned, like the blue IC C40-8W's, and the leased Alston SD40-3's that were given WC and GTW reporting marks and numbers. To further complicate things, there was an order of C44-9W's in the 2700s delivered in CN paint but with IC reporting marks.DT&I wrote:They have been changed to IC, what about the equipment? Got it changed to IC, CN seems like a big mess but I understand it. Looking for more still.

Hartwell RR (HRT) 1973 (GP38) is in CR Blue.

Illinois Central and the rest of the roads acquired by CN are operated by the Grand Trunk Corporation, which was created in 1971 by CN to oversee GTW, DWP and CV operations in the USA.

Re: Conrail Paint List
Too concur with what Jon said, the IC C40-8W Were originally owned by CR/LMSX. Some of, if not most of those "blue devils" often have LMSX written on the front.
And yes, unless otherwise noted, any unit in CN Colors is to be called by its reporting marks. Hence "IC 2707" and not CN 2707, Although crews may use either.

I was under the impression that DMIR/DWP/WC was WC and everything else (including IC) was GTC?

Correct. The DWP, DMIR and EJ&E subsidiaries were merged into the WC.StupidFleet wrote:I was under the impression that DMIR/DWP/WC was WC and everything else (including IC) was GTC?
Re: Conrail Paint List
Added WHRC 1968 and 4079 since I'm not sure what happened to them. NREX 4079 has been changed since it is WHRC 4079.

To make matters worse, LMSX was a joint CR-CN thing, that's why CN got the units.Evan wrote:Too concur with what Jon said, the IC C40-8W Were originally owned by CR/LMSX. Some of, if not most of those "blue devils" often have LMSX written on the front.

To make it even MORE complicated, LMSX was a joint GE-CR-CN thing.ns8401 wrote:To make matters worse, LMSX was a joint CR-CN thing, that's why CN got the units.Evan wrote:Too concur with what Jon said, the IC C40-8W Were originally owned by CR/LMSX. NS 5420 will soon be off the list as it is on it's way to PA to be rebuilt.

Re: Conrail Paint List
NS 5420 is being rebuilt as an SD40E, NS 8302 and 8312 are being rebuilt to have a crescent cab from what I understand.

SD40-2, CSXT 8865 will also be removed soon as more and more SD40-2's are retired or rebuilt into SD40-3's.

Re: Conrail Paint List
Do you have any new information to say 8865 is going to get work soon? ...I'm not questioning you, I'm just wondering if know something I haven't heard about yet.DT&I wrote:SD40-2, CSXT 8865 will also be removed soon as more and more SD40-2's are retired or rebuilt into SD40-3's.
Basically, my understanding is 8865 is long term stored awaiting rebuild or retiring, but I have no indications of either happening anytime soon.
Re: Conrail Paint List
Ok so what else do you think will happen? There is a 99.99999999999% chance it will get rebuilt or scrapped within the next 5 years.MQT3001 wrote:Do you have any new information to say 8865 is going to get work soon? ...I'm not questioning you, I'm just wondering if know something I haven't heard about yet.DT&I wrote:SD40-2, CSXT 8865 will also be removed soon as more and more SD40-2's are retired or rebuilt into SD40-3's.
