On the other hand Matt, Andrew Fletcher (the guy who drew the poster) has mysteriosuly stopped posting his drawings/pictures on Facebook as soon as the NS Heritage Program was announced. Don't forget the C&G scheme was his idea or BN/BNSF. So who says NS PR people have him working on their designs?? I mean going from posting 10 drawings/pictures a day to NONE and no one has heard from him, of those of us who follow him, is a little odd wouldn't you say.

If he just fell of the face of the earth that lends less credence to him being in with the NS program. What is the C&G? And how was it his idea? And now your saying that he invented the BNSF job? It has been leaked out by a few in the know that NS has contacted historical socities about digrams and paint colors.

Maybe he knew too much! I heard some men in black suits (with tiny white horseheads on the lapels) showed up at his house one day and no one has seen him since!

And Andrew Fletcher was the driving force behind the paint schemes. Here is a rundown:

Final List:

C of G, CNJ, Conrail, DL&W, Erie, Illinois Terminal Railroad (That is gonna be sick in the Green Scheme), Interstate Railroad, LV, NYC, NKP, Norfolk Southern (Old Norfolk & Southern), N&W, PRR, Reading, S&A, SOU, Virginian, Wabash.

GE's will be painted in Altoona and Chattanooga, the SD70ACe's will be fresh out of the shop at PRS at Muncie, IN.

Ugh S&A in Tuxedo? I thought they wanted them all in "origonal" paint. I like to see a tuxedo, on one of the units, but why not the SOU instead of the S&A. And a suprise to see Interstate instead of PWV. Still nice to see them doing something.

Man, that CNJ unit looks ugly! I'm pretty disappointed that I won't get the TAG unit I wanted, but these two are pretty good consolation.

Can't complain too much, at least they're doing it! Hats off to NS for showing a lot more pride and class than CSX ever will.

The other Question related to the RDG one, is: What NYC paint scheme are we going to get? Lightning Stripe or Cigar Band?

peter

yeah
List of reporting marks
AGS - Alabama Great Southern Railroad
CG sometimes CofG[citation needed] - Central of Georgia Railway
CNTP - Cincinnati, New Orleans and Texas Pacific Railway (CNO&TP)
CR - Conrail
GANO - Georgia Northern Railway
NKP - Nickel Plate Road
PRR - Pennsylvania Lines LLC
NS - Norfolk Southern
NW - Norfolk and Western Railway
SOU - Southern Railway
TAG - Tennessee, Alabama and Georgia Railway
VGN - Virginian Railway
WAB - Wabash Railroad

from wikipedia

these are what they could have. I have seen NW SOU CR and CNTP all on engines; there are possibably more engines with different reporting marks out there. many cars still hold old reporting marks too.

Carrect me if I am wrong, but arn't all of these still considered NS subsidiaries?

Alos, How is Illinois Terminal involved in all of this?

This is awesome news! I'm very glad that NS is doing this! It sure beats any other railroad (in the way of heritage)!
I like the Nickel Plate/Southern/Lehigh Valley/Pennsylvania best! Of course Conrail is among my favorites too!!!!
  Hey they all look great!  Now, I haven't seen any responses from my post from 1-30 on the NS updates!
Listed below is info (again) about the Re-painted GP59 #4610!

Southern Heritage GP59 #4610 has been repainted into black NS Operation Lifesaver colors. I have never seen it in Sou green; it's too bad! Has it been to Michigan in those colors?

it could have happened but i doubght it. it mostly worked down on the southern part of NS's system, and it was used for promotional events by NS. it was a pretty unit though

I saw it at Sterling yard a couple years ago, in Southern green.

Aww----now when I'm sitting in Porter and an NS freight is coming I actually will have to guess the paint scheme of the locos.....in the past it was always easy, cause you know they will be black
