Most people mistakenly say "cumberbund." To me it sounds a lot better and esthetically pleasing to the ear than "cummerbund." However, and unfortunately, the proper spelling is "cummerbund."

Thanks for setting me straight. I have always thought it was with a "B". Maybe many others feel the "cumber" sounds better. That's how I have always pronounced it as well as heard it.

However, the clothing outlets don't help much either. A lot of them have it listed both ways in their descriptions.

I have been away from this thread a few days. Last time I logged in, we were discussing railroad locomotives. What the heck happened :?:

It turned to a discussion about locomotives wearing cummerbunds. :D

It may not be fully painted yet... seems like it needs an NYC oval or a number on the cab side or something.. :?

From what I have seen in the renderings. The NYC unit will have New York Central over the strip and number under the strip on the body. No NYC oval on the sides at all.

It would appear that the doors to the mechanical spaces are open in the posted photo. That would account for the lack of a road name and number.

Something really doesn't look right there. Not sure how I feel about it.

FWIW, the Lehigh Valley unit is going to get it's nose re-done eventually into one of the stripe schemes. Not sure which one, but they've decided to change it.
Screw the trains, I come for the fighting.

I think that it might be that the "New York Central" on the long hood is supposed to be below the stripe, but I'm not sure.
