I spotted 1518 at Barr today. Still in YN1.

1518 continues to be the last GP15T left in pre YN2 paint. 7587 was supposed to be the trailing unit into GRP on the Feb 2nd behind 7618. I missed it and nobody else reported it to see if it too (the last C40-8 unit left in stealth) still remains that way.

Regarding new logo repaints, last I heard, there won't be any, at least in the near future.

7587 went west on Q327 Thursday night behind 7618, and was in very clean and shiny YN3 paint. It also had the entire side sill painted yellow, which looked odd. Didn't realize that was the last one (I was thinking it was one of the other 2 that had remained in gray until recently), so I guess that explains why it was so shiny ;)

Thanks for the heads up and confirmed sighting. A photo of this has just shown up on rrpa of this unit with a 2-5-12 date on it. Obviously a Waycross repaint with yellow ditch lights and side sill yellow. Indeed the stealth paint scheme on CSX has come to an end. Only 10 pre YN2 units left now, only 7 running.

A little late now, but here's 7587 and 8320 back in November.

Looking at the pic of 7587 on RRPA, the yellow frame doesn't look alot thicker than 7618, but I see it is different. 7618 has blue above the yellow stripe, and 7587 has the yellow at the top of the side sill, a little thicker, than black at the bottom. It sure looked thicker when I saw it, but of course, it was dark and I only saw it for a few seconds, so I didn't get a good chance to memorize it  Hard to believe they're down to 7 pre-YN2 units left, after having such a motley paint roster for so many years.

You guys talking about that inspired me to look back and look at a couple of the C40-8 repaint variations I've seen

I swear I've seen one that had part of the side of the nose painted as well, but I can't seem to find that picture.

Thanks for mentioning that...I knew something else looked odd about it. I thought there was more yellow on the nose when I saw it the other night, but again, I only saw it for a couple seconds. Didn't notice it when I looked it up on RRPA because I was busy looking at the frame stripe ;)

C40-8 units to have the wrap around yellow on the short nose include 7491,7493,7496,7509,7543,7587,7590.
B40-8/B20-8 units to have it include 5943, and all but a couple in the 5963-5979 group. All of course painted by Waycross.

New Paint Scheme stats as of 2-12-12, after adding the 50 new locomotive order units from GE, recently completed, (950-999) and four new 3GS21B genset units (1322-1325) retireing 21 locomotives, retired since late last year, and making 22 new paint changes discovered since 11-27-11 are as follows:

There are now 2,827 on roster units in YN3 paint, and only 1,277 remaining in YN2 paint. Of the 1,277 remaining in YN2, 1,025 are GE units, 252 EMD. As mentioned above recently, only 10 units remain in pre YN2 paint, 1 Conrail 8865, which won't run again in CR paint, and nine YN1 units, only 7 of which remain working including 8404 just reported by John. Of the YN1 units, four are original YN1 and 5 are partial repaints from earlier schemes to make them look similiar to original YN1 units.

Bob M.

As of Sunday 2-12-12 Conrail painted CSX 8865 and 2758 were at Huntington shops, as well as CR 7720.

8865 is the only active one, 2758 is retired. CR 7720 never ran as a CSX unit as far as I know. 8865 will not leave Huntington as a Blue unit.

Well, it's probably leave Huntington as a blue unit, just not Conrail blue

SD40-2 8223 has been painted YN3 which makes one less pre YN2 unit on the roster now. This leaves only six pre YN2 units remaining that are working. GP15T 1518, GP38-2 2506,2519, SD40-2 8320,8404,8418. 8418 is scheduled for paint now. Two others remain, SD40-2 8036 stored, and 8318 stored pending retirement.

Waycross is now scrapping many long time retired SD40-2 locomotives. Cut up, or being cut up in February are
8119,8216,8386,8392,8424,8818,8819cr, plus yard slug 1067, all retired between 2008-2010. Previously, only GE units have been scrapped there.
