Forgot to mention that on the same day I saw 7587 at Wayne, YN1 painted SD40-2 #8320 went south on Q241, trailing a YN3 AC6000CW. 2 YN1's in one day, right near each other!

Released from Huntington shops after painting on Oct 9th and happened to see it myself three days later. Bad part is no one has yet to post a photo of it for my YN3 collection, at least as of two days ago. Getting to be only a small handful of 8500s not in current paint, yet four more have arrived in Huntington for paint since 8520 left. A major rariety, but when 8520 was released, it retrained its original Seaboard System horn, and there are very few of those left as well.

Has the latest SD40-3 come out of Huntington with the new scheme yet?

Not that it is Pre-YN2, but I did notice CSXT 203 go thru Deshler yesterday in Fresh YN3 as well as Dash 9 9028 go by with FRESH Gray on its YN2.

Is the list on the first page up to date? or is an updated list somewhere else in this thread?

Very few changes of late but as of 12-5-11 there remains but two stealth units, C40-8 7587 working, Road Slug 2236 stored pending retirement, 12 YN1 units, GP15T 1504,1518, (1504 due out of Huntington soon in new paint if not already out) GP38-2 2506,2519, GP40 6595 (pending retirement) SD40-2 8036 (stored awaiting rebuild to SD40-3) 8223, 8318 (8318 stored pending retirement) 8320, 8404,8418, Yard slug 1045 (1045 stored pending retirement. Also, the two Conrail units remaining, GP38-2 2758 and SD40-2 8865 remain stored at Huntington and will not run in CR paint again.

Meanwhile, 43 new paint changes discovered in the last three months have now been made, which shows 2,762 locomotives are now in YN3 paint, and now only 1,304 remaining in YN2 paint. Of the YN2 units remaining 1,042 of these are GE units, only 262 EMD units. These totals do not yet relect any of the new power now coming out of Erie. I will wait until all 50 of them have been delivered before adding these to the totals. As of Saturday, 950-980 are now showing on the roster even though nothing above 973 has left Erie yet.

I would say we could consider 6595 retired, couldn't we?

Paducah and Louisville delivered it to VMV/Paducah on 10/11.

For all intents and purposes John, I would say yes, but I can not officially remove it until CSX now longer shows it on the roster, and still did even after it was delivered to VMV. I will check again.

Meanwhile, a surprise as Conrail painted GP38-2 2758 now shows retired. So much for fixing and painting that one even though it has been at Huntinton for a year and a half. If so, that leaves SD40-2 8865 as the last Conrail painted unit on the roster.

Edit: GP40 6595 still shows on the roster as of 12-3-11. However, stealth road slug 2236 has finally been deleted from the roster, and so has road slugs 2215,2271,2283,2350, all of which have not run in quite some time. The very last RCPHE4 drone, and the only one built from a former switcher, 9118 (ex1113) has also been retired ending this model class.

Hey Bob M. what is up with the retirement of the road slugs? Were they involved in wrecks? I find it odd that they would retire road slugs, when there is basicly nothing major that could go wrong with them.

Have asked the same question after getting this info, what could go wrong with a slug that would cause its demise? 2236 and 2350, have been sitting at Huntington for several years with wreck damage, 2283 has been sitting by itself at Russell for almost six years and has now rusted to death. 2215 & 2271 have been split apart from their mothers from six months to a year with unknown problems. There is another now split apart as 2266 now sits in Cleveland since June but still remains on the roster, as its mother roams as a solo.

GP15T 1504 is supposed to be back in Chicago after being painted, but no one has confirmed the painting yet. Have you seen it in your travels? Repaints with the new logo's may be delayed until well after the first of the year now. Now that I have said this, one will appear.

While I can not confirm the number, for what ever reason, last Sunday night there was at least half the GP15T's along with a absurd amount of other units at the ready tracks at Barr. The 15's were grouped together, and while I could not see the numbers (to far away and dark, plus your moving at 30 MPH) one of the GP15's was either recently washed (highly dbout) or was a very very recent repaint. I know comming home that trip we passed the 1518(?) and it was still in YN1 paint. Any word on why the delay in the new logo?

Nothing official, but am hearing managment is not overly enthused about the looks of the logo on the new locomotives now coming out and it may be tweaked somewhat before going to repaints.

Bob M. I can confirm 1504 in YN3 seen it last night at the Barr Yard ready tracks, coupled to the NRE 3GS21BDE demo. Also 629 was passed yesterday in very very shiney YN3 paint. And also seen the 970 & 976 lead a empty coal train at Daniles Rd. as we passed them comming home this morning.

I saw SD40-3 #4029 a couple weeks ago, which I believe is the latest rebuild, and it just had the standard "YN3" scheme, no "Boxcar" logo.
