Re: Detroit Conrail Shared Assets Operations
Use to be Q-305 started out of Sterling yard and it's counter part the Q-304 tieing up there. The work is now done with a yard job out of Rougemere yard ( Y-102 ???? ).

Y-102 if this is the correct job.

Re: Detroit Conrail Shared Assets Operations
Traffic between Rougemere & Livernois handled by either the 630am Y-122 or the 745am Y-451 Normal op is to bring cars out of Rougemere to Livernois and then take cars back out of Kivernois for Rougemere. Yes, this is the traffic formally handled by Q-304 and Q-305. I believe cars destined for Northyard off the old Q-304 are now moved by D-717 and the ex Q-305 cars from Northyard are brought back by D-717. The Northyard/Sterling traffic is quite minimal.

From the way things seem,
-NS 272 bring in empty racks to Sterling.
-NS B45 bring in auto parts and all other cars for Sterling Yard and surrounding area.
Also ,
Any updates on the Utica Industrial Track, like any plans of it being removed or how much production the plants (MNP, Shuret, Ford VanDyke) are doing. Mr Bentley

I go through the area once every couple months.Any updates on the Utica Industrial Track, like any plans of it being removed or how much production the plants (MNP, Shuret, Ford VanDyke) are doing. Mr Bentley
- I haven't seen anything at MNP in a long time but I hear they still receive regular service
- Shuret always has 3-6 cars on their spur
- Ford Van Dyke (as opposed to Mound Rd.) always has two tanks and 2-8 gons

Re: Conrail Shared Assets Operations
The Industrial track is here to stay ( for now ) The customers that are left, which are all tied to the auto industry, still get service. MNP has other plants around that are also served by rail and the wire is trucked to the other plants. Until the auto industry picks up the rail traffic will be slow.

ONLY 4 TRAINS IN AND OUT OF STERLING YARD
Power in Sterling Yard had been more colorful lately.
Do mack and mound road jobs still have their symbol (MR-51) or do they use a north yard symbol

Re: Conrail Shared Assets Operations
Oh I should have worded that better.
Like which North Yard job runs to Mack yard to serve whats left ( If theres anything? ). Philips Environmental?
And Mound Road Yard, If theres anything shipping by rail, which North Yard job handles that?
I've been hearing all these horns on the Sterling Secondary but so little engines are in Sterling Yard, whats whith that?

Re: Conrail Shared Assets Operations
MORE BAD NEWS ! Conrails big plan is to now have a East side ( North yard ) and West side ( Livernois Yard ). All other yards will be closed ! All crews and trains will be based out of these two yards. There was a town hall meeting this past week and they want to chop 80 employees ( from all depts ). Anyone want to guess on how much longer Conrail will be in Michigan?
Re: Conrail Shared Assets Operations
Same could be said for all Class 1's in this state.Anyone want to guess on how much longer Conrail will be in Michigan?

Re: Conrail Shared Assets Operations
My guess is, not very long. It's all been said before, they just want to avoid Michigan.

MORE BAD NEWS - part 2. 051109 1400 51% of the transportation dept. was let go ( as well as cuts in all other dept. - EXCEPT mgmt, still top heavy! ). Now Livernois and River Rouge yards will remain open and what customers that are left will be served at the railroads whim, not when requested by the customer & by contract! Nothing like driving off the last customers. Will someone please turn that light off when you leave......

Re: Conrail Shared Assets Operations
I understand companies are doing whatever to cut back money as they dont have as much coming in.
It's been getting quieter and quieter on the Sterling Secondary.
Will there be a new job out of North Yard to switch whats left on the Sterling Secondary on a daily or few times a week basis?
Did they mention anything about the Utica Industrial Track ( Plans or removal )?

Re: Conrail Shared Assets Operations
Utica Industrial will be pulled eventually.
Sounds to me like after Chrysler closes Sterling Assembly Sterling Secondary will be switched by local stationed at North Yard.

Re: Conrail Shared Assets Operations
More BAD news - the saga continues........ As of right now. Livernois and River Rouge yards will remain open. The entire east side will be serviced by crews from Livernois. The yard at Sterling will be open for the 1 yard job that will be left, but the 2nd floor will be closed off. ( no yardmaster or trainmaster ). North yard will close also. By Monday we will find out what jobs will be left.
