Good question Delightful Trains! Read trough the pages on this post, though nothing since October 13, 2024: https://railroadfan.com/phpbb/viewtopic ... hilit=1977

I don't think anything is being done with 394 currently! Probably sitting in Owosso! "Heritage Units" added GLC 394, along with 329 and 393 10/6/2024! I don't understand 394 being added and there are no posts yet on it! The update from 10/6/2024 H.U. states "Add the Great Lakes Central Railroad which includes the following Locomotives
Added GLC329 - Tribute to Louis P. Ferris Jr (SD40M-2)
Added GLC393 - 10th Anniversary (GP35)
Added GLC394 - City of Clare (GP35)
"

You are certainly Welcome Delightful Trains! I am also glad to have photographed TSBY NW2 in 2019, among the few other times! I hope engine #1977 is being restored and will operate in TSBY colors again! Man, the GP35s are nice! Now some may be turned into upgraded GP35-3s! WOW!!!! I hope they keep the same Alco trucks if rebuilt! Really amazing that these engines, built in 1964, have served their entire career on the same trackage through AA/TSBY/GLC!!!!!

Edit: Alright, watched the "Live Webcam" at S.R.I. in Owosso! WOW! Northbound GLC train with three GP35s, 60 cars! Came at 12:40 p.m. December 2, 2024! Engines 391, 393 and 385! These are the three operating ones! COOL!!!!

Yes, I agree! It would be very cool to see TSBY 1977 be fixed and used in operation! Hopefully now we see the GP-35's thrive for much longer! It would be great for some to even get the upgrade. I also wonder how long it will take for 392, 390 and 398 will be fixed.

Oh yeah Delightful Trains! It would be great seeing the remaining idled GP35s fixed! Not many railroads own these! Too bad the ex NS "High Hood" ones sat for years before being scrapped! Seems like GLC is fixing older locos more all of a sudden!!!! Man, it would be amazing for TSBY NW2 #1977 to operate on the RR again! Hopefully staying in "TSBY" colors! Heck, this could be a "Heritage Unit!" It was one of two engines operating when Tuscola & Saginaw Bay Railway® first started operations in Michigan's Thumb in 1977! GLC 398 is a GP38-2 purchased by GLC in 2010! This is sure an interesting RR!!!!

GLC is definitely an interesting railroad! Lots of history behind what GLC is known as today. They sure do own some very interesting locomotives on their roster!

Well, good news for GLC #394! As of yesterday, (1/12/25) GLC #394 was spotted outside of the engine shops in Owosso, MI wearing full repainted TYSBY colors! This marks it as GLC's newest heritage unit! I'm wondering if this means it will be out and running soon. Hopefully it doesn't have much more work to be done. I have a picture posted below of a photo from Michigan Railfans Facebook page. All credits go to Andrew Hayes for the photo.

Whoa Delightful Trains!!!! Are you serious about "Repainted" TSBY colors for GP35 #394? :?:   :?: Does this mean it will go in service like this? Any GLC markings? This photo is fuzzy and I cannot make out the lettering, even on my big 22" computer screen!!!!! This could even be the original TSBY colors of black/yellow! The black faded to gray over the years! WOW! Finally we can photograph a genuine TSBY GP35 in 2025!!!! Is that GLC 390 behind it? Man, it looks like they are bringing back all the remaining GP35s!!!! :!: Are these going to be rebuilt as GP35-3s? What about the old AA Alco trucks? Any more details? Cool railroad!!!!! Next year (2026) is GLC's 20th Anniversary!

GLC #394 sure looks like it got cleaned up so hopefully it means that it will stay in the nice blue and yellow scheme! I haven't heard to much about the old Alco Trucks, so not sure what has happend since. It would be neat if it still had the Alco Trucks! Also, I agree, the photo was pretty fuzzy so it was hard to make out the lettering, especially with the fencing in the way, but from what I could tell I was thinking that it was GLC #390 siting behind also! Hopefully we see some more GP-35's coming out of the shops along with the chances of possibly seeing the GP35-3 upgrades. It would definitely be cool to see a genuine TYSBY locomotive still operating. We might even get to see two running if TYSBY #1977 switcher locomotive gets fixed. It will be cool when we see these GP-35s back up and running!

My understanding is it's very expensive to replace the Alco trucks with EMD's. Something about the bolster fitting IIRC. Anyway, it's very unlikely the GP35's will ride on anything other than Alco trucks.
PatC created a monster, 'cause nobody wants to see Don Simon no more they want AARR I'm chopped liver, well if you want AARR this is what I'll give ya, bad humor mixed with irrelevant info that'll make you roll your eyes quicker than a ~Z~ banhammer...

"Railfan" Gary Sample said something about it being hard to remove the Alco Trucks! This is great and they can ride on them longer! The GP35s are 60 years old and the trucks are older, around "75 years" he said!!!! Now, when "Heritage Units" added GLC 394 "City of Clare" October 6th must have been because of the repaint! I did not realize it was repainted until Delightful Trains' post from January 13, 2024! Was it in fact repainted into TSBY colors in October? WOW! How come no one posted info about this happening? Very cool!!!!! Is 394 now rebuilt into a GP35-3? If so, it is probably the first of a kind!!!!! These things keep on going!

Here is a picture on "Heritage Units" (© DALEK LING) from January 15, 2025 at Owosso showing a slight better view of ex TSBY GP35 #394! Should be in service soon! It definitely has Alco Trucks! Also, that is black of the old TSBY paint before the blue! Also has the old bigger stripes! When the blue came out in 1998, the stripes were smaller and more similar to GLC!  This is cool!!!!  I myself haven't seen these colors fresh, so it may appear blue!

OK, maybe it is dark blue, but definitely the design of the original TSBY paint on the GP35s! OK, here is a picture (©Jack Smith) taken at Owosso, MI in 1990! Compare the colors! Well, whatever the new paint is, it looks great!!!!

How come GLC 394 sat for years at Owosso with no front trucks? :?:  :?: They had axles from a boxcar it appears! Now I see GLC 390 has no rear trucks! Here's a picture (© Nicholas Katz) that was taken at Owosso, October 23, 2019 of 394 how it looked before the repaint:
