CP Tries to buy CSX

Unread post by Saturnalia »

Wow...I saw someone mention it earlier but I took it as foamer fantasy...incredible.

I guess CP almost did return to GR!

admin edit: let's try not to link to walled garden sites like Wall Street Journal. Try one that actually shows the article for non-paying members

I doubt CSX even gave it the slightest bit of consideration.

CP buying out CSX would be akin to Johna swallowing the whale.

This article seems to give the impression that both sides are "interested" per say.. I don't know what to think but the feel is more of a "This could happen" then CSX shutting down CP from at least this article..

But the line to keep in mind is of course:
Canadian Pacific and CSX both declined to comment.

I doubt it would make it all the way through the review process. CP is looking for a company to help it survive and do much better than it has in years by itself.

Tell that to the crew that told the dispatcher to "Praise the lord" when the dispatcher told them to tie down the train.

Or the various three stooges routines and gossiping between trains about the company and new rules and meetings for all the engineers when they meet.

It's fun when the boss is out of town so the radio isn't being monitored. Great opportunity to mess with people.

Yes but this isn't railroading. This is railroadfan.
According to all known laws of aviation, there is no way a bee should be able to fly. Its wings are too small to get its fat little body off the ground. The bee, of course, flies anyway because bees don't care what humans think is impossible.

Profits up, bullish lookout, regulator uncertainty, plus CEO downplay? Not happening. That's my read.

You underestimate the hubris of hunter Harrison. I hope it doesn't happen but I don't put anything past him.

His are not brass, they are steel. Michael Ward may not like the idea of finding a new job and rebuff EHH.
