Re: N scale- CMGN Decal Question

Its really too bad you're only doing them in N. I could use the sets to finish out my CMGN roster. I'm only missing the 2014, 2001, 2002, and 5175. Everything else is either already done or nearly done

Re: Best Sounding Train Horns

Holy... how many M3/M3Hs you got in there? At the high point I had 4 M3s and 1 M3H. I've since sold a couple M3s. The K5 in the picture is enough parts to make a K3 or a K5H thats also been sold. The RS5T is actually supposed to be an S5T, but I need the right heads for it. The S3L with snow ...

Re: Best Sounding Train Horns

M3s, M3Hs, Canadian Tuned K3s, and S5T/RS5Ts are my favorites. For a very short time the GTW Caboose in Kalamazoo had an old GTW M3 on it for the crew to use when they where doing long shoves. I'm also gonna leave this right here https://scontent-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-frc3/v/t1.0-9/1176376_102017...

Re: Caboose question

The GTW caboose assigned to Kalamazoo is serviceable but the interior is completely boarded up. From what I've seen its got nice seats up in the cupola

Re: GTW 79054 caboose on move

Sorry to dig up such an old thread. I was looking for some photos of this caboose. It is in service and is usually used about once a week or so to make the trip to Arvco. It looks terrible though

Re: Quiet Zones - Curious to hear your thoughts!

Personally, I always thought the solution that Battle Creek and the GTW came up with was a good compromise. Under that solution, the city passed an ordinance just shy of a true Quiet Zone, instead ruling that, from sunset until sunrise, all trains within the city limits would sound their horns in a...

Those were taken at Emmett Street in Battle Creek. Right where the Flint sub ends and the South Bend sub starts

Re: Railfanning in Lansing, need some info

Best time for Lansing is around 0400 to 0800 and about 1400 to 1800 on the CN Side. If you an travel some head west on the CN to Corry yard. There is a local that works the Autoplant in Delta Township they should be around sometime after probably 1100

Re: GDLK Horns Stolen in Grand Rapids

A friend of mine in the Signal Dept. told me a story that he got called out to see why a signal was out. The crew had reported the signal as simply gone, not burnt out. When he arrived there the signal had been cut off at the base

U710/U720 are Eastbound symbols for the trains, U711/U721 are westbound symbols. There is no planning with the trains running DPU or not, its all about how comes from the BNSF.

If those darn UP guys would turn off the headlight when they are stopped they wouldn't have that problem I was thinking the same thing. Those guys out west must be scared of the dark or something. Practice Safe CSX You're right. I shouldn't get out of the cab unless the headlight is extinguished. G...

Re: GLC 385

I prefer high headlights. As far as visibility goes, ditch lights are winner winner chicken dinner. Headlights alone, whether low or high mounted don't offer the greatest visibility. What I dislike about nose mounted headlights is not the possibility of getting burned (I've never had this problem -...

CN also didn't request as many autoracks in their pool as the other Class ones, using EHH Method of "We can move the cars faster and more efficiently than everyone else."
