Re: Where Is It?

I found this shot in some obscure corner of the internet. The city it used to lead to is obvious, but don't know what line or where it came from. Anyone else have an idea?

Re: Great Lakes Central Updates: November 2020

Traverse City run today. Should be 4 gons and 1 load of lumber coming up. Was about ready to leave Cadillac at 0900. Got to see your train up here in T.C. about 1330 or so. They had already dropped off the gons and I caught them at Amerihart yard. My dog "Hershey" was helping watch the trains as we...

Re: Where Is It?

Perhaps an older hotel where crews frequently overnight. Big map on the wall is of the US. Something rail crews might look at once in a while. Untitled.jpg Picture next to it blown up looks to be a rail line running along michigan shore line. rrpic1.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/5044488918...

China Railroads

With China a large worldwide manufacturer, I assume they use rail to move a lot of those products around. How does their usage of rail compare to the U.S.? Where does their locomotives come from?

Re: Great Lakes Central Updates: October 2020

There was another time you mentioned they have not been to TC in a long while when I saw them in TC the day before and someone else even got video. They are sneaky! Yes they are sneaky. I crossed the tracks three times Wed. and walked my dog on the TART Trail next to Amerihart. No trains to be seen...

Re: PM 18 Found

I thought the boat with the gold sank earlier and sailed out of Frankfort so wouldn't it have been a Ann Arbor boat that sank with it? Either way for the naysayers there is a tv show on the History Channel about it. Its fascinating. Yes it was an interesting story. They had found a bar of gold, but...

They might make another TC run this week, from what I heard. Maybe if they go through on the right day I can sneak down to the tracks when they're going through.
I'll have to watch for your "heads up" and try to catch them here in TC too.

Per the Borg, there appears to be a GLC run to Traverse City on Monday scheduled to go to Williamsburg to deliver some hot lumber cars.
Thanks for the heads up. We have been waiting for a load of lumber to get started on the new house as well as seeing a train for the first time in over a month.

Re: Visiting Holland

Well Friday morning my wife let me take the car, I went over to the Holland train station and hung out for an hour or so. My timing was off, all I got was a horn in the distance but he never came through. I could see the tracks are shiny with regular use unlike the rusted rails we have in Traverse C...

Re: Visiting Holland

Thanks for the guided tour GP30 and SD80. I do have a car (Lincoln Town Car) that I tow my RV with. Problem is I also have my non rail fan wife in tow. I did manage to see a very long coal train near West Olive. Wow they have mountains of coal that go up and on forever. I'll try to hang at the train...

Re: Great Lakes Central updates July 2020

NB thru Kingsley at 10:20. 2 engines - 396 and 395. No freight. Wow, I can't believe there was no lumber for Amerihart I'm guessing a supply issue, as the demand is there. The place looks empty (well, figuratively speaking). Confirmed. I went thru the Amerihart yard yesterday, just saw a lot of flo...

Re: Frankfort Question

I don't know why but I somehow remember the company as "Pet Foods" rather than "Pet Milk". A variety of food products for people, not your pet. So the fish oil could have been used for a lot of stuff.

Anybody see any lumber sitting around waiting to come up to Traverse City? We could use it.
