Re: 1225 to Port of Monroe

Compared to a loaded grain train? The real issue, they're concerned about trespassing idiots getting in front of the train to get the perfect picture/video. A diesel stuck in front limits that opportunity. Those idiots also have a tendency to get in front of the regular freights. I don’t think that...

Tried to locate the exact location on US-41 in Ashburn GA. Could not find on the google map.

It's not a Southern Caboose.
Heritage is NKP-N&W

Add the LS&MS for a hint.
That's 3 different railroads back in 1910.

I like the Royal Blue (or whatever it's officially) on the engines.
It almost makes me like the snowy backdrop.
Almost :)

Re: Where Is It?

Not Conrail or any predecessors of Conrail. Realizing what you are referencing may be different than what I am referencing... The track in the foreground was part of a Michigan Central Freight House/team tracks. Across the way, roughly north of where the building is, was a Grand Trunk Freight House...

Re: Where Is It?

Well I was right, the Veronica industry lead was the subject of a prior Where Is It by Michael.
I was thinking the current image by ConrailDetroit was also a previous Where Is It.
Apparently not but that location was discussed before with an image provided.

Re: Where Is It?

Found it - Veronica St next to Motion Control Corp in Livonia. Was the first spur from the aerial view I zoomed in on, got a bit lucky. Thinking about it now, I believe that industry lead has been used here before. I was looking for something non-rail related and came across the train being there a...

Re: Where Is It?

Yes, it's Livonia. Let's see if someone else can get the exact location. The riverfront from Downtown Detroit to Trenton. The riverfront to Royal Oak. Redford to Plymouth. To a lesser extent, Pontiac. Lots of industries, lots of tracks, lots of trains. All a shadow of the past. I mostly would cruise...

Re: Unloading rail from railcar, tips over

At a minimum they needed to angle the forks back which with that many lift trucks was a big problem to start with.
It happened at least 5 years ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPcRV1DMN8E&t=5s

Re: January, 2022 Obituaries

Poor Meatloaf, died of the covid. He did? I've just looked at six different news sites and all of them state that the cause of death has not been given. Not saying he didn't, but where was this reported? https://www.tmz.com/2022/01/21/meat-loaf-dead-dies-singer/ But you are correct as no cause has ...

Are the cars and engine they used still parked in Charlotte?
If they are, I wouldn't be surprised if they've been vandalized.

Re: Focusing on what we have now

Yes, I know the area. In fact Bloomfield Hills put up a sign off Kensington Road saying Trowbridge was a private road. https://goo.gl/maps/7s5eD3i93xRkatLN7 It isn't. Now that the bridge is removed, it doesn't really matter. But when you have money and are "well connected" stuff gets done that would...

Charring Cross: Formerly a private station for GTW/Semta Commuter trains located inbetween Pontiac and Birmingham in Bloomfield Hills now just a cement platform with a ramp and stairs. Charing Cross wasn't a "private station". Here is the Google Maps aerial view of the site. https://goo.gl/maps/u9z...

The best engine for MI-train to use is the FP45.
