Re: Amtrak plans to replace all locomotives with cleaner mod
The "next generation" electric locomotive is the ACS-64. It's pretty ugly in my opinion, though. For diesels, however, I have no clue what the next gen loco would be. But, I don't think they'll be replacing the diesels for a looong time. Like Jochs said, it would make too much sense  AS an ol...

I took part in the fantrip from Allen Park to Ft. Wayne In. the last year they operated the steam program. A couple of weeks later they announced the end. So sad.

Re: Our younger members
I would comment how much trouble can a 13 year old get into while railfanning but the way railroad officers are going after terrorists/railfans I guess the answer is a lot Now you did it! Typhoon and Pat C are going to get you for that comment. This should be fun to watch   :mr...

Re: CN Cops whats their Issue?
I have a question that I need to have clarified. Do the RR cops wear uniforms? If so does the shoulder patch on the left sleeve have a red background?

Funny, I don't think he was being a smart ass. It is THAT simple. Oh wait, my opinion doesn't matter, or at least doesn't rate as much as yours does. All in the eye of the beholder..... Just saying, a simple "what are you guys doing here" would have sufficed. A pleasant introduction will mos...

Me: Well i thought i was standing on public property on the Amtrak platform watching trains but I have been known to be delusional would you like to tell me what I was doing? When you start out a conversation with a police officer with this, you deserve what you get...... Frank did NOT start...

Now if they will come to their senses and kill the AA to Detroit fiasco, that will save even more money. `
Rich hits the nail on the head, no one who proposes these projects can come up with a clientele that will use them enough on a daily basis for them to pay for themselves.

Re: CSX says no!
Would it accurate to say that every group of people, be they cops, doctors, CEOs, farmers, truck drivers, autoworkers and even railfans, have within them a percentage of nice people, egotists, those who are trustworthy , those you don't trust, its share of AHs, and its share of good samaritans, etc....

Re: CSX says no!
Truth be known, I have never had a problem with any cops, RR or otherwise. I have never been arrested, booked or taken to jail, so that is foreign to me. I have found that being polite and cordial can change the attitude of a cop who is having a rough day who just had to deal with an A-H and has an ...

Re: CSX says no!
A rail cop pulled a gun on a kid and made him delete his pictures? Why do I feel like there's more to this story? If this actually happened/happens to someone, burn his/her badge number and company affiliation into your memory and report them to the nearest state police post. The state police appoi...

Without wanting to sound sarcastic I must say this thread has been informative and enlightening. Now that I have been taught the difference between the 'authority' of a RR cop and a rentacop, I have one question that I would like to have answered since some here have the answers and that is: What t...

Re: CSX says no!
Great idea hoborich. Sometimes the best course of action is to first of all, be legal in what you are doing, and then play their silly-a**** game. What I really find truely amazing is the difference that RRs taken concerning the subject of railfan photography, what CSX does compared to what BNSF has...

Re: CSX says no!
If i felt like going thru the hassle, I might just tell them to arrest me, but they better make sure they have a legal case for which I will be prosecuted or I will sue them for false arrest. That's brave talk, but have you considered the consequences? The arresting officer will go home after his s...

Re: CSX says no!
Ooops, thanx for the correction , typhoon. I somehow got railroad cops and private security guards mixed up. What I said applys to private security guards, not rr police. Having said that, rr cops or any other cops, do not have the power to take away any rights that we have and are exercising lawful...

Re: CSX says no!
What if the cop just decides to arrest you right on the spot....don't you forfeit any rights you have? Judging from CSX prior actions, their position is that you have NO rights, constitutional, legal or otherwise, if they decide to take them away from you. It was said in a previous thread a few mon...

Re: CSX says no!
Not surprising from CSX. That dopey CSX cop named Karcher told me the whole Delray area was railroad property, and I had to leave the area. In my opinion, CSX cops are just the local version of Blackwater. They pretty much make up their own rules and do as they please. Another CSX cop named Ortiz p...
