NS Train Symbol question
Does anyone know where NS 115 originates? It is not listed in the NS symbols list: http://railroadfan.com/wiki/index.php/N ... ANIFEST.22
I know it's destination is the Tazewell & Peoria Railway's east peoria yard for forwarding to the Iowa Interstate.

They need to bring in a Jordan... Those things deal with snow, and help drainage.MagnumForce wrote:I think the last couple of derailments were both weather related, although one did occur trying to run a monster train with 3 locomotives trudging through some pretty massive snowdrifts

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
Gettysburg stuck just west of State line this morning Very funny to watch them with shovels trying to dig her out!!! At least their trying to use it these days! Well it has to be usable, and it has a less-than-loved independent brake schedule anyhow. You are incorrect, traffic levels are steady, th...

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
Here's a street view shot from Linden St. that shows the same view of the ROW. You can see the upper and lower heads of the signal from this angle. Is this derail always in place? https://maps.google.com/maps?q=defiance+ohio&ll=41.276851,-84.380053&spn=0.000004,0.004128&hnear=Defiance,+Ohio&t=h&z=1...

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
He did this in an evening, hardly time to answer his requests. No wiki entry is better than one full of speculation, half truths, opinions and out and out false information. One that was only what he knew would have been totally fine and that is how he should have done it. You are new here so I don...

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
Perhaps you should have your facts straight before making a wiki entry, a lot of misinformation there. Deleted your entire "History" section as so much of it was wrong, misleading or missing huge gaps. No wiki entry is better than a wiki entry that is written by someone who just knows a little abou...

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
Perhaps, it would be helpful to make a detailed wiki page so that most general questions can be referred to that instead. Right now, there is no "database" for the NDW, so any basic, should-be-in-a-reference info must come from here, if anywhere... Plus, you don't have to search this long thread......

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
So it's a run around track ? Would a run around have derails ? On a side note the rail bed is firm today on the ND&W ! It is a siding. Per the ND&W rule book's section on derails; other than within yard limits, any customer track or siding that might have equipment tied down should have fixed derai...

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
The INER definitely talks to someone on the radio that knows where everyone is and everyone is going and where meets are even going to occur... at least two members here are employed by the INER. Since ND&W belongs to Pioneer(?) is there a centralized dispatcher like what G&W does? I believe everyt...

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
According to RR jargon that I've always heard: "Spur" = access to an industry or customer, usually is stub-ended "Siding" = has switches on both ends and can be used to store cars, re-position cars in the consist, allow two trains to pass, sometimes cars can be spotted for customers who don't have ...

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
Kinda like you say its a Pop and a Person down South calls it a Soda... we do agree the primary reason it's being built is to get the locomotive on the other end of the train ? No, the primary reason it's being built is because the railroad has need for extra track space and capacity in this locati...

Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The Definitive Thread
How many cars will the new siding hold? They're not a siding they are run around tracks as the have switches.. The cars will sit on the main and the locomotive will go around the train and a less of a chance of dropping cars on the ground.. I shared this with an acquaintance in operations for the N...

The units are still around just now they are labeled Keokuk and Western and the B unit I don't know what happened to it. PREX 1761 (F9b) is at KJRy's Laharpe locomotive shop (unless it's been pressed into service on the Keokuk runs, which is highly unlikely), it was at the shops for a 92 day when t...

Not to be a dick, but everything you're telling me is stuff I've witnessed. Been staring at that line for almost 20 years now. Likewise No offense taken, I'm aware that you are actually able to lay eyes on it. Re: Napoleon, Defiance and Western: The First Year
hopefully sometime in the near future a rail change out happens. Crappy Rails are better then NO Rails... If you want to see a rail change out, give the railroad the money. They will change the rails out when it becomes critical, nothing wrong with old rail. If you want to see it move up on the pri...
