Re: 4449 & 765
If they do go ahead and bring 4449 down to Durand this evening instead of tomorrow, I suppose they'll put it in the not-very-accessible HESR yard overnight? (My wife is interested in seeing the move onto the CN line from the depot. Me, I tend to think it's going to be a bloody zoo there tomorrow, an...

Grand Haven & the C&M
A couple of questions for you Westsiders-- --does anything move over the old CSX line through Grand Haven now? I spotted a couple of very nice photo spots, but I didn't so much as hear a whistle all day. --Is it just me, or is the Coopersville & Marne really up against it insofar as selling itself a...

CN 491 hit by vehicle
At about 3am, the dispatcher advised 491 that while the train was on the Holly Sub, it was struck by an unspecified vehicle. 491 was instructed to continue to the Shaftsburg siding and stop, presumably for inspection and paperwork.

Re: NS Lansing Secondary
I happened to catch B-30 creeping south at Aurelius Road this afternoon (about 4:30pm). Two locomotives (one NS and one Conrail), but only one empty bulkhead flatcar.

Re: Amtrak
The title of the article in MICHIGAN PASSENGER was:
Schedule Changes for Amtrak’s Blue Water, Wolverine and Thruway Motorcoach Services.
I was just giving the change I remembered best as an example.

Re: Amtrak
There was something about this in the last issue of MICHIGAN PASSENGER. Looks like about a 40-minute shift in the scheduled arrival for 364 and 365 at East Lansing.

Re: Train Festival 2009: Update
Oh, and I also appreciated the visit by 4449's contemporary, the B-25 Mitchell Yankee Warrior based at Willow Run. Did it show up any day besides Saturday?

Re: Train Festival 2009: Update
Welllll, we were there, too, but did any of you say Hi to us? NOOoooooo... The delightful surprise of the day for me was finding the (5TM?) Whiting Trackmobile in the back corner of the shed. My late father was part-owner of a Whiting dealer in southern New Jersey; we sold 1TM, 2TM, 3TM, 5TM, and 7T...

I'm not familiar with the site, but Google Maps is my friend. Thanks for the tip.Hogger1225 wrote:If you are familiar with the site, I believe that Chemical Bank, just across the river, is donating most of their parking area for Handicapped Parking.

Re: Train Festival 2009: Update
Do I understand correctly that the Alma excursions are boarding on the west side of South Washington, outside of the SRI grounds? If so, is there any access to that area for non-riders, with or without wristbands, to take photos? Also, I thought I read that S Washington was closed (presumably to veh...

Re: Train Festival 2009: Update
A couple of questions for those of you who went Thursday: --is the SRI site basically rails-in-a-field, or are there enough paved walkways/aprons/trackside platforms to keep a wheelchair or walker out of the muck while exploring? --how many of the engines had live steam or moved on Thursday? 4449, o...

Re: PARKING AT OWOSSO
EL/MSU has the benefit of doing this 6 to 8 times a year for the last 75 years. It's a pretty polished operation at this point in time. How often does Owosso see more visitors than it has residents?

Re: official "where is the 765" thread
Apparently I was working under a quota today--I could have sunlight, or 765, but not both at the same time. I don't know yet how the photos and videos came out, but I left Lansing at noon and caught 765 four times--Pontiac Trail, Joy Road, Barker Road, and Oak Grove Road south of Cohoctah. I'm just ...
