Your Class 1s certainly are but, take it for what it's worth. Lot of corruption and "money in hand" so to speak up top.

Re: N.S. Portsmouth east yard.

They are still laying people off in the yard. My neighbor along with many others are losing their houses. Just wonder how many people will be cut because they are still at it. Transportation has brought some back. Seems we're still out of people anyway. Columbus only brought a few back. I haven't h...

Re: CSX (CR) SL Secondary / Toledo Branch discussions.

Those old woodchip cars are loaded with inbound material from large commercial bakers. They buy whatever leftover crumbs, broken product or waste cookies, cakes, cereal etc. that would end up going to a dump. It's made into animal feed. Pretty interesting that there's enough waste products to fill ...

Air products does not receive rail service. The place recieving railcars is a livestock feed producer. So after some more research. Appears to be Bakery Feeds. And using google street view, those other cars appear to be old woodchip gondola's with covers on them. I kinda wonder what they haul in th...

Re: CSX (CR) SL Secondary / Toledo Branch discussions.

Thanks for the info guys. Any more on the other industries along the line? Also, on a side note.. but related. I've found a few pieces of info on trainorders saying that during the Conrail split, the line was on the chopping block to be sold off to a shortline operator. Had the Honda plant not been ...

I've seen it referred to as the Toledo Branch as well. Whats the correct name for it?

CSX (CR) SL Secondary / Toledo Branch discussions.

If you get on google maps at Kenton and follow Rt68 to Occidental Chemical. Just below them, there appears to be the start of a decent sized industry with a single track all the way through it. Does anyone have any info on this? My google-fu is weak and doesn't seem to turn up much. For the other on...

My understanding of the situation. The entire lines needs ballast. Once a good bed of ballast is down, then the new ties and rail can be raised and leveled. I'd say new rail would follow after that.

Yep and the Bellevue to Chicago pool is back on for the 233/234. I'm unsure of the 217/218.

Results of running freight trains so long. I'd love to see the tonnage profile. Wouldn't be surprised if there was a bunch of loads on the rear and empties in the middle.

To my knowledge everything south of Jackson has been out of service for atleast a couple years. I thought the RT93 crossings had been paved? Or was that just the one in Oak Hill? I haven't been up that was in a couple years. I did read a while back somewhere (here or Train orders) that Melvin Stone ...
