Re: CN Updates August 2016
Those three lite units on the Holly I reported on earlier just went by with a very long doublestack train heading north. It was passed by 391 going the same way behind my house (exciting double-track action). Too bad it is dark out now. Earlier this evening, around 7:30 pm, was a southbound by my ho...

Re: CN Updates August 2016
Three light CN units lead by one running in reverse drifting south down the Holly Sub. from Pontiac just now. Maybe power for an extra doublestack train out of Moterm over the Holly tonight? I will let you know if I see such.

451 just going by my house entering Pontiac at 5 pm. Number of the second NS engine is 2777. Second day in a row that an NS engine is on the Holly Sub. Haven't seen one in a couple of years.

Re: CN Updates August 2016
Lite Power Moves on Holly Sub: I have been seeing between 4 and 7 am the last two days a lite GP38 heading north on the Holly by my house on the way to Pontiac. I presume it is coming back from working Moterm Yard overnight? Didn't catch him going south either day. At 3:00 pm today a lite NS unit mu...

Re: CN Updates August 2016
Thanks for the info on the reroutes as I was wondering what was going on behind my house last night. Train 391 went by my house in Bloomfield around 7:30 with a short train, right after Amtrak 355 passed by out of Pontiac. Around 8:30 right after the Summer Sunday Amtrak 352 went by another westboun...

Re: CN Updates July 2016
An eastbound just went past Square Lake Road overpass on the Holly Sub at 7:30 pm with one 7400 series locomotive and an entire train of hopper cars. All of the hoppers were traditional bottom dump hoppers and most of them were freshly painted boxcar red with the CN.com logo on them and the letters ...

Re: CN Updates July 2016
There was a northbound intermodal yesterday (Friday) in the early evening (before dark) and a southbound pure intermodal (not the usual Q116 with mixed freight on one end) this afternoon (Saturday) on the Holly Sub. Kind of unusual. Each train had a single unit. Interested to see if there is another...

All of my railroad books can be also seen (and purchased) on my website, ByronBabbish.com (other than the two I published this year, Michigan Mineral Railroads and Roundhouses of Michigan Railroads, which haven't been added to it yet). Byron

Re: Manistique Papers Switcher
Yes. Saw it Sunday July 3rd. Up on jacks and one truck pulled out for repair. Doesn't look as good as in your photograph. I hear that the new owner of the paper plant is still using it for occasional rail service to the plant. Does anyone know when this 45T Whitcomb was built and did it have any oth...

Re: Port Inland Railroad
I recently published a book that includes a chapter on each of the railroad operations of the Port Inland, Cedarville and Rogers City quarries with photographs taken from 1965 to 1991. It is entitled "Taconite, Calcite, Dolomite, Michigan Mineral Railroads" that is available on Amazon.com. As you ca...
