One would think it's a better idea to just stand on a sidewalk near where a busier railroad crosses a road, and take photos of the various boxcars/autoracks that go by. Watch a class 1 railroad around a city where speeds are typically slower, or a shortline railroad. Would see a higher total number ...

Grand Elk north through Byron Center approx 12:30pm, WAMX 3807 and WAMX 3808, probably 30 cars. Hadn't seen either of those locos in a couple months.

Back south through Byron Center at 2:39pm. Wamx 3808 with 18 cars.

Indeed - WAMX 4209 and WAMX 4189 with 39 cars in tow at 1:25pm south through Byron Center.

Pretty sure they end up turning at Elkhart. It's a pretty rare occasion. They could turn in downtown GR as well, but generally they don't turn unless something is up with the locos.
