Ben - I've been following your work for about 10 years. I still have your collection of Michigan Railroad articles and maps. Your article about MIGN is still one of my most important resources on it. Keep up the good work!

Last time I saw a 40' was on CSX's Detroit Sub around 1994. It was a BN greenie. It was in a block of box cars for paper service.

I enjoy the squealing of the wheels as they slowly go around the curve. Not many cars for Dow today means possibly a big chunk the next time. Thanks Justin.

For example, I'm sure Minute Maid would like to be able to cut back on trucking costs. The switch and most of the siding is still there...
I don't recall the story why MM won't use rail service here. They do at other plants IIRC.

Granted, SW is in Elgin and so is    Corky and Quacky. They've come back from Mexico MO looking for SW cause only a real man can satisfy their need to spend money and get husbands in trouble with their wives  . Re: Tanker Explosion Closes I-75 Freeway/9 Miles Rd, Hazel Park

The speed limit on I-75 is 70 MPH through that stretch. Its only an advisory sign that is at 50MPH.
Son of a gun, I've been driving it for years and didn't notice. I'll have to pay attention next time rather than jam to Def Lepard :)

Don Simon wrote: There's a 50mph speed limit at the area where the tanker crashed and burned. It is a rather sharp curve with no passing lanes. Where, on 696?? On I75 around 9 mile Rd. Both north and southbound lanes have the restriction. Nevertheless, cars still race through there. But it's sharp ...

N909 EASTERN EMPTIES OUT OF WEST OLIVE.
At one time I heard/read W. Olive would receive two unit coal trains per day. Can anyone tell how many they are getting these days?

I didn't know Haviland gets tank cars too. I thought they only get box cars.

No boxes to Haviland, only inbound tanks. They are beyond Victor Barnes on the siding. VB gets the boxes
Ok - thanks RDD
