Re: Toilets on Amtrak

All the 'stuff' that goes into the toilet stays in the retention tank; when you see liquid coming out of the car by the restroom area, it is the water from the sink.

Re: MQT Rail: Sunday Afternoons

What the heck?? The pride of the fleet is the MIDDLE unit on this consist?? Anybody know if the fourth track into the roundhouse is in service yet?? From what I remember, that tankcar that is striped like a candy cane meant it carried some seriously harmful stuff---meritted some extra attention when...

CSX Pt. Huron/Sarnia traffic

Don't know if this has been covered.......

Last night I saw a CSX engine sitting in the CN Pt. Huron yard with about a dozen cars: Is this a transfer train between the two cities for CSX traffic, or just a transfer between CSX and CN and the job tied up here for the night??

Re: AMTRAK CARS

Kinda sorta; you are correct on the 350/355 set. 352 turns as 351 which comes back as 354 that same day , which then comes back as 353 the next day. About the only time you will see 351s' equipment come back as 352 and 353/354 is during the holiday rush when they run with the expanded consists and d...

The 'South Yard' you hear is the yardmaster in Flint who keeps track of the yards after first shift; I have heard them talking with trains working Pontiac, East yard, Lansing, wouldn't surprise me if they were taking care of Battle Creek also.

Re: Amtrak #350 & #353 Back-up move

When Amtrak changed the times of these trains is when the 'normal' meet takes place at Chelsea instead of the Jackson area. NS put the rusty rail rule on most of the sidings on the Michigan line after they consolidated the NORAC and NS rule books a while back. There is a couple of the crossings that...

Re: AMTRAK CARS

Im surprised Amtrak 350/355 is the first to get superliners when they dont spend the night in Pontiac to freeze up. They seem like they should be the last to get Superliners. ---That's because they spend the night in Chicago to freeze up---and stuff tends to freeze up faster there for some reason :...

Re: New CTC between West Flint and East Durand

This section already was CTC controlled; CN has been changing out the intermediate signals between the control points with a newer style, sometimes putting up new signals in more readily accessible locations, and sometimes eliminating some of the old signals which make for some longer blocks between...

Re: Mysterious hoppers.....

It looks like Kellogs' inbound traffic has picked up as I see LOTS of BNSF and UP family covered hoppers being moved--some days it looks like there are at least 10 cars a day that are waiting on the track that NS picks up from.

Re: Flint mi

Seems like CSX could just as easily run up the Mt. Clemens sub to Port Huron as opposed to going to Flint and then heading east.....and they still would get the traffic coming off the SBS at Plymouth.
