My grandfather was a streetcar conductor back in the day in GR. I would bet he probably rode in one of these from time to time and collected fares.

Particle board and center beams don't mix very well, sorta like water and particle board don't mix very well either. They can wrap it but I would assume that it will go out by boxcar. Much more weather resistant in a box.

I know all of the above kids. I did it for 30 plus years. But holding for 4 hours? Crews CAN be called, don't have to do it...but can be called for a show up ASAP. (if they have one of course).

Re: Amtrak vs. Car near Battle Creek. Minor injuries.
I know the reason but have to ask...why in the hell do they hold a train for FOUR HOURS when there are minor injuries and no damage to the locomotive???? Stupid IMHO of course. Screw the passengers for four hours? Missed connections? Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Welllll, working at Wyoming yard at the time and switching them out....right after the Conrail split they ran Q337 to GRR as usual then ran it back to Plymouth and southward to Toledo and IIRC Indy. 336 came in the same way, Indy, Plymouth GRR Plymouth and Flint. Re: Hastings
There was still an interlocking with associated approach signals south of town. The signal was out where their small yard was across from the Bliss (?) factory. Also IIRC the interlocker had derail protection on the CK&S. Hey, back in the day Middleville even had a block signal switch connected syst...

Now the MLive story states it was a tank of Ferric Chloride used to etch steel and in printed circuit board etching. NOT involved.

Re: NS 181 derails in Van Buren Township
According to the MLIVE story there was a Chlorine tank back in the train. THAT would have been a real problem. It did not derail according to the above press release.

Re: NS 181 derails in Van Buren Township
The derailment occurred on the Detroit District (ex-Wabash) near Huron River Drive. At least six cars went on the ground, one of which carried hazardous material. https://www.wxyz.com/news/crews-on-scene-of-train-derailment-in-van-buren-township NONE of which derailed...that's NOT DERAILED and was ...
