Bay City Sugar...

Just read about the derailment in bay city. Is the suger from "Big Cheif", or what used to be? I see tank cars, airslide hoppers and these 3 bay hoppers there. Can anybody tell me what is in/out of these? And do sugar beats come into Big Cheif from the area in those big Ex-GMO hoppers? Or where do s...

Mid-Michigan RR Question???

Hi everybody, thanks for answering all of my previous questions. So here is my question: Do you know when MMRR acquired the covered hoppers for grain? MMRR was incorporated in 87' and there are pictures on FallenFlags of MMRR hoppers from as early as 92'. Any info or ideas or informed assumptions ar...

Detroit & Mackinac grain elevators and movement...

Does anybody know what grain elevators the D&M served in the 1980s? Did the one in Kakawlin ever see D&M service? We are trying to figure out many grain cars came down in harvest season and where they may have went? C&O Saginaw or BC, GTW Durand (or TSBY), port @ Saginaw??? Thanks so much for anythi...

Re: Depressed Flat w/ wrecked hopper?

Thanks for all thin useful and interesting information everybody! I am looking to load a wrecked PS-2600 2-bay covered hopper, these are the taller ones. It looks like that picture of the GATX 3-bay is close to the same height. I was hoping to use a depressed flat, but I am open to what is most prot...

Re: Well...

Wow! Hey, I really liked your theme with the MMRR, it was unique. I will throw out an idea short and quick- I don't know if you saw it on my facebook page, but I have a track plan of St. Johns. Now with that much space you could continue your theme... From GR to St. Johns to Owosso to Durand. And be...

Center beam and opera questions...

Well I researched for 20 minutes online and did not find answers, so I figured someone on here would know. When did the opera center beams and the "newer" non-opera center beams make their appearance? Particularly on the SOO, the CN, and TTX? Any info on any roads appreciated.
Thanks,
Martin

Re: Mr. TSB - D&M Covered Hoppers

I have some of the Clear Block Productions GTW "Into the 90s" videos. Volume 2 includes good footage of Trowbridge in 1993. It also has great footage of Durand including a Central Michigan train. Neither scene has DM hoppers, though. :( 1993 may have been too late; LSRC may have gotten rid of those...

Re: Mr. TSB - D&M Covered Hoppers

GTW Junkie, I have one minute before I need to go back to work, I will comment some more later, but I spent a lot of time around Trowbridge in early 90s. Here is the BEST video I have found of the interchange, no DM hoppers though  but very good nonetheless :D .

My Layout Draft Plans CM/DM/GT 1987

Well guys, here is a rough plan of what I am embarking on. It is a switching layout. It is 1987 in the on the banks of the Saginaw River. Central Michigan (sister to D&M) has just acquired the GTW Durand to Bay City line. 1987 allows me to use my CM/DM engine fleet -or- my 2 GTW GP-7s, which may als...

Cement from Alpena was and still is shipped to the terminal in Carrollton. I was wondering about this terminal, is it the one listed on the 83 nautical as "Huron Cement..." or "Peerless" or further south "Carrollton Concrete Mix"? Did they have cement silos and how many tracks? If you remember. I h...

Re: D&M/Lake State hoppers

On my Facebook, http://www.facebook.com/rustbeltrailroad , I have some posts about these hoppers. Particular ConCor hoppers are the closest match with Mc Clean close also. They are hard kits to find, a quick glance on the position of the BN logo is where I start. A recent post on there shows how to ...
