Re: Fostoria signal question
Probably seeing more restricting now if the dispatchers are using automated computer-line ups and fleeting more often than perhaps the tower operator used to. Perhaps in the past the tower operators didn't line up trains quite as fast as the remotes and their computer overlords do now. Which begs t...

Re: Holland to GR Commuter Train Study
Great. Ad hominem attacks by Typhoon. Typical. That’s how you know you’re winning. “Hundreds” of daily riders is pretty weak. I-196 does thousands. So much cheaper just to expand the freeway, or as this study points out, a bus. The train would be a waste of money which will fail to solve a p...

Re: Holland to GR Commuter Train Study
Works in other places, I didn’t realize western Michigan was so unique. If there is enough demand for “ hundreds of people” to ride the train, then yes somehow they will find a way to get people to work. Rideshare would be one piece of that puzzle. "Works in other places" like where? Maybe you shou...

Re: Holland to GR Commuter Train Study
So, you hop on the train in Grandville or Hudsonville to go to your job in the Holland area. The train stops at the Holland depot. How then do you get to your job that could easily be several miles away? Does western Michigan not have Uber/Lyft? Hundreds of people are going to jump in an Uber or Ly...

Read this, it's something new that's going to possibly happen to the CSX Railroad! Re: CSX derailment-Nappanee
As for the second question, I am not sure what the basis of your question is. In the earlier "short insult" portion of this discussion (where people were simply saying "you are wrong" without providing any real information) it sounded like the debate was "NS never uses CSX" vs "NS always uses CSX"....

Re: RN dispatcher changes
I actually haven't heard the RN today. I have been hearing the RA, saying Calumet City. The RA and the RB are staying in the Chicagoland area. only for a short time. As of last week they moved to Jax as well. Nope, jobs are still in Cal City. There is not an extra board there anymore, so if one of ...

It is just habit, the desk is being dispatched from down south. As for when the desks came up both, April of 2006 is what sounds right in my head. I am not 100% sure on that date.

Re: RN dispatcher changes
CSX didn't have a good plan for the moving dispatchers implemented. No moving expenses. Um, no. They are paying moving expenses. I am hearing the NS is making their dispatchers move on their own dime, as there is nothing in their contract to make them. That is just something I heard around the wate...
