New Boston TDSI
I wonder how that's going to impact Q245, If I recall correctly it usually has a pickup at New Boston before continuing south? Also, while on the subject on rack trains that run south out of Toledo, where does Q231 pick up the stack cars?

CSX out of Toledo
OK Thanks! Also, have there been any changes on the B&O side out of Toledo? I live next to the track in Perrysburg, and after 10 years of living there, the trains kind of blend in after a while. Anyway, If I'm seeing/listening correctly the following trains use the B&O side into Toledo. 506,507 (Tol...

Re: New trains
How busy is the Toledo Branch north of Ridgeway these days? In addition to the (now) 218 & 219, 131 & 132 run that way correct? Aren't there also a pair of 600 series trains (636 & 637) that run that way, or do they run the C&O side? Is there still a local that runs line? Thanks in advance! For anyo...

DT&I 221-228
These units were also the last to survive in DT&I orange (excluding the 1776 of course). This was due to these units being financed through Grehyound Leasing. At the time of the GT takeover, they went into storage due to the lease terms not being the best. Apparently they (GT) were able to negotiate...

Toledo Subdivision Power
I live next to the Toledo Sub (B&O), and while I have seen a few GEVO's, they do not dominate the power seen on this route. A possible explanation for the GEVO's heading to Toledo on the C&O side is that if past practices are followed, New GE's are set up for initial operation in Willard (this was t...

New Crossing installation
The tubing & the boring machine are for the circutry required for the new crossing gates/lights installation. The advantage to using this method is that the cable can be installed without having to cut up the grade crossing itself, like trenching would require. The installation crew will "shoot" the...

Approach light interlockers
When CSX went through and installed ATCS here on the Toledo Sub (B&O side) the signals at the interlockers went from approach lit to constant lit (intermediates remained as approach lit though). Not being totally familliar with the area in question, the only thing I can think of is that this is a lo...

Super Steel is the subcontractor that does the fabrication work for EMD - they've been doing it for years. They do the fab work up in the Milwaukee area. http://www.supersteel.com/ I've seen those too. Can't remember when exactly I saw one last, but I figured it was either an SD70ACe headed to Londo...

N956 routing?
I also photographed a N956 at Hamler Ohio (on the Garrett sub) loaded eastbound on 11/9. It turned north at Fostoria, so apparently they can run via the Ohio or Michigan route.

Re: Amtrak Ridership increases again!
It would be interesting to see how that 1% growth compared to what the air travel industry saw for the same time period. I'm not sure how many trains Amtrak runs every day nationwide, but say it's 150 - that would work out to an additional 5 people per train. Just think what they could do if they sp...

RE: Quiet Zones
They are talking about making it a quiet Zone, not a good idea. It's not like they can take the crossings the way they are now and go to having quiet zones tomorrow. Between going to four-quadrant gates, and or median barriers, it takes quite a bit of improvements to enact a quiet zone. In the case...

Rusty Rail
The rust on the rails makes it difficult for the track circuts to be shunted. Many passenger cars also have disc brakes instead of clasp brakes (which keep the contact surface on the wheels clean) adding to the difficulty. For what it's worth, when CSX re-opened the former B&O between Perrysburg & D...

Just to update, Q324 has apparently returned to it's Garrett-Deshler-Toledo routing as I have seen it in Perrysburg a few times over the last week or so.

K902 Limestone train
While the Bullsheet shows Columbus as the origin point, The train actually originates from the National Lime quarry at Carey Ohio. Carey is on the C&O south of Fostoria & north of Marion. The trains may operate engine light from Columbus to Carey where the loaded train is picked up. Here's a link th...

Northwest Ohio storms
Yeah, we got pounded pretty good the last few days up here in the Toledo area. I'm not sure if there was any impact on the Toledo Terminal/C&O side, but trains were moving on the B&O side in & out of town. I talked to my parents last night (they live about 2 miles south of the B&O west of Hamler) an...

NW indiana Intermodal facility
Wellsboro Indiana is already a good railfan location (but probably was better back in the day when the C&O of Indiana was still in use as a through route). In any event, the sites "in play" in the area include a portion of the former Kingsbury Ordnance Plant, and land near Wellsboro/Union City. I've...

Re: A Lil More Info
I'll have to keep a closer watch on the trains by the house  I thought that there was a 324 type train yesterday, as there was a northbound that came up in the morning with BNSF power - which 324 commonly has. I do know that for whatever reason the dwell times at Stanley had shot up over the l...

Proposed Erie Twp. Michigan intermodal facility questions
While reading through this morning's Toledo Blade, mention was made of a proposed intermodal facility to be located in Erie Twp. Michigan (near Monrow). http://toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060510/NEWS17/605100363 The way this reads, is that the facility would be for the Canadian Nati...
