Re: Quincy
Probably easiest to go to Lima in the morning and wait for them to leave then move south. If it doesn't look like they're going to leave by 9 best to save it for another day.

Re: New Connection in Bellevue (N. Sandusky District - Yard)
Just a clarification, Queensgate is the CSX yard. Gest St. is the NS yard. They're next to each other, and from the north use parallel tracks to get there, but they're different yards, different railroads.

Re: New Connection in Bellevue (N. Sandusky District - Yard)
174 ran via the Dayton and Sandusky Districts last night, which is another train that usually runs via Muncie and Ft. Wayne. I don't know if this routing is because of crew reasons or if this train is working Bellevue. And going back to Bellevue guy's post about train counts pre/post expansion. Thos...

Re: New Connection in Bellevue (N. Sandusky District - Yard)
How much of that has actually happened so far? 14Q/15Q were extended to Chattanooga and run via the Dayton and Sandusky Districts (thus Bellevue) and 375 is now originating at Bellevue instead of Columbus (still terminated at St. Louis). We had been getting a 127/128 pair on the Dayton District too...

Re: Deshler Train Info Wanted
The 52.2 detector was eliminated when they built the yard. The 60.3 and the 46.2 detectors replaced it. Is this a general merchandise or intermodal yard, and didn't it open the last year or two? Did I read somewhere that another overflow yard is being built just south of Deshler? It's an intermodal...

Every railfan should experience a rush hour on the Racetrack.

Just pick a station west of Lavernge. You'll pretty much see everything everywhere. There's also a railfan park at Matteson but all you'll see is CN, Metra and a few Amtrak.MQT1223 wrote:What about the BNSF's Racetrack?

Re: New Connection in Bellevue (N. Sandusky District - Yard)
From what I last seen the Buckeye yard is mostly used for storage for CSX and NS. Little of no activity goes on there any more due to the infrastructure. So they still may dump from freights in there for longer storage. I really don't think NS wants to move any more money in there as it just doesn'...

Re: New Connection in Bellevue (N. Sandusky District - Yard)
CSX has two rails up there and that both rails lines they use gets busy the first half of the week. Up there where? Seems to me they need to open a few rails that are not being used that have some discontinuance of them get them open and move fright traffic on them leaving the Bellview line open fo...

If you are indeed in Grandville like you suggest, Chicagoland is only a couple hours away. Plenty of options there.

You can add all the capacity you want but it will do nothing if you don't have manpower to move the trains.

It's the access road to CP 288/site of Broadway tower. Good bet that railroad property.

Re: Portable Scanner Q's
I have a ½ wave antenna in my Explorer and get about a 7 mile radius with this antenna. My full wave antenna on my Jag gets about 14 mile radius but is a lot more directional as it is mounted on the hood and near the center of the vehicle as my Explorer’s antenna is. 7 mile radius? That's terrible....

Re: Portable Scanner Q's
Remember, scanners can "search" a bank of frequencies too without having you to program them in.
I no longer offer antenna suggestions. Different setups work for different people and people's perceptions of ideal reception are so vastly different, everybody's set up is the best to them.

Amazon sells Bearcat scanners and even appears to have a Uniden "store". The Uniden BC125AT offers a lot of bang for the buck. Alpha numeric display, big BIG audio for a handheld and has the railroad channels pre-programmed. (Amazon.com link) http://tinyurl.com/oggr28p I'm not sure why that page lis...

Never used any of the CyberLink software, so I can't really say. Googled your thread title and this is the first link that came up. Is this it? http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/moviestudiope No. Click "Product Comparisons". Sounds like they're running a sale where they're retailing a version for the price of the next version down. That being said, Vegas Plati...
