Amtrak Speed Question
With the HOT weather today what would the 110 MPH speed restriction be on the Kalamazoo line due to sun kinks or other heat related problems. As I traveled today MSO was 10 MPH GDLK 3806 with 18 cars came into Three Rivers at about 5 MPH from CP 25.6 hot box detector. As a fireman with the township ...

Empire Builder Business Car
Caught ex C&O Chapel Hill Business Car on the tail end of the Empire Builder in Winona Mn. yesterday. Still looks great and a lot of people on the rear enjoying their ride down the Mississippi riverbanks.

Just one Hot Day to railfan
Just got back from railfanning the INER and other locations today. Whew it was a hot one. At the new engine house in Hudson was 2185, in Waterloo it looks like the old Baldwin 103 at the co-op is heading to the scrappers. It sat clear to the west end of their yard right next to the west switch. Tues...

CP Ship Keewatin
Saw on the news tonight that the Keewatin is finally headed to Canada from Douglas Mi. They got her unstuck from the mud today and pulled her out after many years there. I know this has been rumored on BoatNerd for some time. I guess they didn't have to dredge just got enough tugs to pull her free.

MSO Observations
Just got back from Sturgis and looks like Pioneer is spending money on crossings. Ballast dumped at several and workers tackling the one at International Paper today. PREX#907 tied up at Abbott Labs, 1616 working White Piegon. Maybe after the crossings are done the ties and ballast will be next betw...

Re: INER to replace 85# rail 2012
You are right as a member of PM1225 we went by the one you mentioned quite a few times at Railfest 2009. I saw all the yard tracks of China rail and the incomplete status of that one. Too bad GLDK could'nt make an offer on White Piegon to Coldwater but Pioneer would probably jack the price sky high....

Re: INER to replace 85# rail 2012
So Sturgis to Coldwater now becomes another trail? I've heard there has been discussions with INER about this very thing happening. Too bad the ethenol plant fell thru for Burr Oak . We shall see>

Re: INER to replace 85# rail 2012
This is good news. I must admit that if the Coldwater to Sturgis line was to be rehabed won't that help also. We have 30 millon dollars in a revolving tax fund that just sits there and Trine University in Angola unsucessfully tried to tap into it, but the county commisoners never seem to get to seri...
