Re: Great Lakes Central Updates June 2017
Is Petoskey where the first few 4 bay centerflow hoppers are going? I knew that the 2 bays went to Elmira, but I've questioned for a while where those 4 bays go. I know this is somewhat of a noob question, but I don't know the northern division all too well. 4 bay centerflows go to Petoskey (plasti...

Re: Great Lakes Central Updates June 2017
Pixl is correct, that's a Petoskey bound train. I wonder where the passenger car is going :? AAN, nice catch of the passenger car, I couldn't quite see if there were passengers on board. I was going to go to town to see if the North run would come up here, but didn't look like any cars for TC. Save...

Re: Great Lakes Central Updates June 2017
Haven't they "studied" this before multiple times? Notice how I said that they PLAN to put one in, not that there is one. If there was a commuter rail, the tracks would be in much better shape. The project is in phase 1 right now, just inspecting tracks and figuring out the feasibility of a train f...

Re: Great Lakes Central Updates June 2017
398 and 399 return to Cadillac at 1710 with 1 tank, 1 cement hopper, 1 passenger car, 19 cement hoppers, 1 loaded centerbeam, 4 covered hoppers (feed) and 4 empty pulpwood flats. Any ideas on the passenger car? Was the passenger car one of the BiLevels, or was it in GLC paint? It could be one of th...

Re: Great Lakes Central Updates June 2017
I went chasing GLC to Williamsburg this morning. 398 was leading a centerbeam. We caught him near the old depot around 1055, and then we caught him at 4 mile around 1115. It was all going well except for the fact that I forgot my tripod... well, I was out at Lautner Rd., and as the train went by, my...

tumer!?!!?
The NS Top Gon was a tie load for McBain. See my post way above regarding Beacon, straight from the manager.
Oh ok, I assumed that was for Traverse. I will keep in mind about what the manager said for future situations. I'm chasing the TC train today, if they even show up....

There a costumer!?!!?
Yes. I believe Beacon will be a permanent customer for the GLC up in Traverse. An NS Top Gon made its way up the GLC system a couple days ago, that may be going to Beacon today. I'll be trackside in Traverse once I get the report that a train left Cadillac north.

Re: Great Lakes Central Updates June 2017
At Yuma, some of the equipment has been removes (all tractors, pretty much everything which wheels). However, all the conveyors, the loading silos, name on the fence, etc. are still there. There are about 30 sand hoppers on the loading track that were shoved up there after the place closed up (most...

Re: Great Lakes Central Updates June 2017
Fairmount Minerals, the operator of Wexford Sand (in Yuma) closed the sand plant a few years ago. They may have removed equipment. At it's peak it was shipping up to 100 cars a week (65 was probably about average). In the mid 2000's Ford closed and/or retooled their Cleveland engine foundry operati...

Re: Great Lakes Central Updates June 2017
I have a question about the Yuba line. Do they ship sand out there anymore? On google maps there is a large sand facility with about 20 hoppers out there. However, I cannot find any recent reports of the GLC being out there. Is this line even used anymore?

Caught them in between Kalkaska and Mancelona around 1125. They were NB (for Elmira I suppose) with 13 cement hoppers. 399 leading 398.

Re: Great Lakes Central Updates June 2017
Does anyone know if this customer in Grawn will be a permanent customer, or is it just a one-time deal? If so, will the GLC be out in Grawn every time they go up to Traverse? Confirmed that: "the first one was loaded on Friday and will go out shortly....kind of trial run- if all goes well, we will ...
