Re: NS Peavine talk

I was down at the siding of Clare Yard on Monday and NS was ready to haul back some cars that the CCET moved west I guess on Thursday. Talking to the engineer he said the rail was going to stay open again this year that NS has no plans on stopping any shipments to the Ag or to the paper plant. The C...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Guys I have been reading your comments on the Eastern Corridor Project and yes Mariemont did air this out at the Council meeting a few weeks ago and I was there. It does appear there is a plan looking at the Peavine for a commuter rail from the Boathouse to Milford at the present time with a stop in...

Re: NS Peavine talk

No official word but think something is in the works. NS did haul ties down to Clare a few weeks ago, new ones were sitting just off of the main track. They are gone now so maybe they went up that way. Something was also covered up with the ties. There is talk that stone will be moved up that way so...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Took the dog for a walk today along the rails east of Clare. Plenty of cars on the line ready to be moved east or maybe west. Not much going on at Clare today pretty foggy down there this morning. Couple of people were walking in the yard. Not railroad people saw them in the distance not sure what t...

This is the issue for not just here but many routes that NS is running all because all the experienced old guys retired and the young guns are running taking over.

Re: NS Peavine talk

Let me know when they start selling off merchandise. I'm in for sure. My buddy got the name plate on the old restaurant down a Clare and the Pepsi sign before they knocked it down in the 80s.

Think he is talking about the STB reports, wait times. Belleview has poor wait time well over 30 minutes on average.

Re: NS Peavine talk

I agree Heypal lets keeps focused here discuss the Peavine, mergers are on another thread. I see some new railroad ties have been dropped off at Clare in the past few days. Not sure if the CCET is picking them up to send out east or if they are going to be used to shore up the tracks on the east sid...

Re: NS Peavine talk

I heard some positive news today about the Peavine! I was down a Clare this morning walking the dog ran into two engineers on the NS train. They said there is no plans on a discontinuance of service to the CCET in the next several months. The CCET will continue to service the grain company Ag up eas...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Like I said that is what my friend informed me last week and since he is in the real estate business I would think he knows what he is talking about. Yet will NS sell the property. He said dealing with railroads is a tough job as they don't like to sell off large chunks of property. Even a rail line...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Yes it appears that the State wants Evans to slow down on heavy truck traffic in these areas unless they are doing work in and around these areas or locally. The State prefers them to do long distance shipping by rail if possible. As you may know Evans is a expanding company and are doing work far s...

Re: NS Peavine talk

I have lived in Mariemont for many years and I just can't see how any developer would be interested in buying the Clare Property. First there isn't much of a view unless they add plenty of fill to put the homes up on more of a hill. Now if they want to build a high rise well maybe more of a view of ...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Midland Sub question for you. My buddy who is real estate mover here in Cincinnati has info the NS has been contacted to sell Clare Yard to a developer. The Developer wants to build condo's and homes on the property that will be accessed from the road that spurs now dead ends by the old Mairemont Po...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Ackman tried to do the same thing with P&G two years ago starting rumors trying to split the company, get someone else to buy it, sticking his nose where it shouldn't be in the first place. The Enquire used it to sell papers yet the news media didn't buy into it. Shareholders started to get worried ...

Re: NS Peavine talk

The line hasn't sold just checked with my buddy who works for NS in KY. Peavine hasn't been put up for bid yet. Looks like it will in May. Meanwhile he said the west end is safe for the present time. East end is done as far as NS is concerned. A few other discontinued rails that NS controls in Ohio ...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Interesting news! I wonder if he knows for sure or is just speculating? Can't see NS selling the entire line to the CCET as they don't have the cash or even want the entire line. Not sure if the State bought it yet nothing surprise's me about the State of Ohio. I don't see another rail company buyin...

Re: NS Peavine talk

Heypal very interesting link there about the industrial park on the old NS rail line. You may have a point there and a big one at that. The State of Ohio will recommend NS to continue to hold on to the Peavine and service any potential manufacturing development that may relocate in that area around ...
