Probably unload something on the track that runs up to Pete's auto. Seems to be just enough room to turn a semi around between it and the main.

As Chip said they likely will only receive inbound raw materials by rail.
Does anyone know what kind of raw materials would be shipped into a battery manufacturing plant?
Maybe plastic to make the outside of the battery?

Well as safety officer of my fire department if you guys can't stop a train on tangent track with red and blue lights next to a crossing then somebody doesn't have situational awareness of their surroundings.
You don't stop a train just because you see red and blue lights...

Re: GDLK Operations

This morning at 6:20 am Portage Fire responded to Center St. and Schaver Rd. to a two car collision. One car was on the Grand Elk tracks and yup the lights came on. A southbound train was coming but not before firefighters were able to pull the driver out of the jeep before the train hit it. Per us...

Re: GLC / AA Merger WHAT IF

The TC branch would be abandoned (If A2TC doesn’t happen) and everything north of Kalkaska would be removed I don't see that happening. This is Watco not G&W. Watco will hunt down a customer that only gets 1 car a month. More than likely they would try to get at least one or two more small customer...

I think someone is smoking something. No way GLC is bought out by Watco anytime soon. Mark my words, all who say this is happening in March come back to this post a year from now and tell me this merger happened (or should I say did NOT happen).

Re: JAIL Marketing

Trouble with the JAIL is sure it connects to three class ones in some larger cities, but the problem is they aren't near the industrial zones. In Jackson most industry is on the south side of the Michigan line, so NS handles that. In Lansing the industries are near CSX or CN. Becoming a haulage line...

Does anyone know what they do with the hopper cars that sometime sit on the south side of Paterson? They sit on the track that dead ends along Walbridge St.

In the past the L-P plant in Newberry received Canadian pulpwood logs, up to 30% of their logs were from Canada (about 350 a year). I doubt they still get much pulpwood logs by rail anymore.
Still comes in by rail. Can be anywhere from 4-15 cars of logs in Newberry.

No this was recent. Like 2020/2021.
That one would be recent enough it should still exist on the interweb. Go a link?

Re: Kalamazoo North Yard track layout

It was attempted and had a serious plan to remove the GR&I main from G ave all the way to Gibson and then connect the CK&S to the main north of G ave. Trains like the 303 would only have to clear the switch for the CK&S then head north, as well as eliminating a second diamond and over a dozen cross...
